Last space let... - Lakeside North Harbour

Reflections
Autumn/Winter 2014
Welcome to Reflections
Welcome to Issue 2 of Reflections.
A lot has happened since the summer edition, not
least that we are officially full at 1000 Lakeside.
As the story below says, we have recently
welcomed in Helistrat to 1000 Lakeside; but far
Lakeside North Harbour Campus, Portsmouth
from being the end of the story it’s the start of our
new beginning.
You may well have seen our exciting plans for the
rest of the Lakeside site, which means that we can
start to push ahead.
The first phase is already under planning and
scoping with a timeframe to start in early 2015.
This will see the creation of newly
refurbished accommodation at existing office
buildings on the campus and we will of
course keep you updated as the latest
developments unfold.

Director - Asset Management, Highcross
Last
space
let...
Highcross has let the last remaining space at its
1000 Lakeside office building in Portsmouth to
Helistrat, a leading environmental consultancy
and contract management company. Helistrat is
moving its head office to 1000 Lakeside following
expansion and has taken 5,500 sq ft, over twice
the size of its current Gosport based office.
This latest letting follows a 17,500 sq ft deal with sports
retailer, Wiggle earlier this year. Occupiers at the 275,000
sq ft office building also include;
Capita, The Southern Co-operative, Babcock, Hippowaste
and Coffin Mew.
Highcross is now marketing a wide range of additional
office opportunities at Lakeside North Harbour, ranging
from bespoke design and build schemes along the
lakeside to newly refurbished accommodation at existing
office buildings on the business campus.
Helistrat was founded in 2009 and works with some of the
UK’s best known brands including M&S, Ann Summers,
Gatwick Airport and the Environment Agency to unlock
the commercial and environmental benefits of more

sustainable business models. The business has grown
quickly, from five people when it started, to more than 70
today.
Helistrat Managing Director Joy Donnell comments: “We
have outgrown our original head office following rapid
growth and 1000 Lakeside offered a great location which is
easily accessible for our staff, including our field team who
are located all around the country. The office space is
much better for our needs and the excellent selection of
facilities on site will also be a great
benefit.”
It’s a library of all things great that happen at on the
campus, because nowadays there’s so much

Nick Turner, asset management director at Highcross
adds: “The letting of the final office space at our anchor
1000 Lakeside building is an important milestone in the
development of the business campus and we are looking
forward to building on this success with a wide range of
new opportunities for companies looking to relocate here.”
Rohan retires from wildlife walks
In honour of the hard work and dedication of Rohan Amick, who retired last
year after hosting 15 years of wildlife walks at the campus, the management
team at Highcross arranged for 2 sculptures to be created by local chainsaw
sculptor Chris Bain, who is based at Staunton Country Park in Havant.
Karen Tyrrell, Lakeside’s Client and Communications Manager said: “Rohan
retired last year and we wanted to celebrate the amazing work and energy
that he put into informing our occupiers on all things flora and fauna through
his walks, newsletters and photographs. He really brought a refreshing view
of our beautiful wildlife areas.”
We’d love you to follow our
Tweets, so you can tell us what
you love about Lakeside - and
so that you can find out all the
latest gossip.
We’ll definitely follow in return!

Celebration Regatta for
Portsmouth Specialist Schools
Two local specialist schools, Mary Rose Academy &
Cliffdale Primary Academy celebrated becoming a
Youth Sports Trust Watersports Hub with a regatta
day, enjoyed by 30+ pupils, on a wonderfully sunny
September day.
The aim of the Celebration Regatta was to celebrate
watersports in a fun, safe and relaxing atmosphere,
allowing primary aged children the opportunity to experience watersports and to
compete in friendly races with each other.
The schools had the privilege of welcoming Emma Wiggs to their Celebration Regatta.
Emma, a GB Paralympian and the current World Champion in ParaCanoe sprint, didn’t
take long to jump into one of the katakanus and get involved with the races on the water.
Karen Tyrrell, Client & Communications Manager for Lakeside North Harbour added "It
was fabulous to see so many young people on the lake taking part and having fun and
we look forward to continuing to support both academies in their Watersport Hub
development in the coming year."
Help for Heroes
Charity of Year
Hero Bear was special guest at an event to
celebrate Help for Heroes (H4H) becoming
Lakeside North Harbour’s Charity of the Year. Each
year staff at Lakeside North Harbour Portsmouth
chooses a charity that they can support. This year
Hero Bear received a cheque for over £640 to get
the ball rolling. The donation was all Lakeside’s
profits from the Colour Me Happy Fun Run that took
place in the campus grounds in June.
Derek Benger, who works for contractor Mitie at
Lakeside, originally suggested H4H as his local
pub, The Royal in Commercial Road Portsmouth,
often hold events raising money for the charity.
You can see when Hero Bear visited us on our You
Tube channel ‘Lakeside North Harbour’.

Remembering Terry
Global
Entrepreneurship
Week
19 November
As many of you already know, our night
security guard Terry Burgess, sadly died in
September this year. He worked at
Lakeside for over 5 years and his help and
friendliness is sadly missed.
In celebration of his life, we commissioned
Chris Bain to carve an owl in a tree which
overlooks the entrance to 1000 Lakeside. It
was carved in the presence of his family
and friends and will be a permanent
reminder of his wonderful personality.
You can see how Chris carved the owl on
our You Tube channel.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest
campaign to promote entrepreneurship. Each year,
it plays a critical role in encouraging the next
generation of entrepreneurs. In the UK, the
campaign is hosted by Youth Business
International, a global network of initiatives that help
young entrepreneurs to start their own business.
In conjunction with Shaping the Future of
Portsmouth, the event is called 'Shaping Your
Future' - designed to raise our young people's
aspirations - an engaging and insightful event
taking place for Year 9 students giving them a
flavour of the wide world of business and enterprise
a chance to learn about
and explore the vast
array of opportunities
open to them post full
time education.
Meet our receptionists...
When you call or visit Lakeside, the first people
to greet you will normally be our receptionists and we think they do a fabulous job (so do our
occupiers). So when it comes to picking new
team members it’s a really important decision.
Our own Nikki has been with us since 2009 and
was recently joined permanently by Abby after
she proved an outstanding temp over the
summer. Now we have been joined by Lisa and
Cassie, who were chosen after sifting through
400 (yes 400!) applications. So next time you
call you’ll know exactly who you are speaking
to...and you’ll meet Cassie in the next edition...
