SPRING NEWSLETTER
GOODBYE LONG WINTER AND WELCOME SPRING!
When spring hits, it’s hard to feel down in the dumps. Add longer days and return of short
sleeves to the mix, and you just might find yourself wishing that spring would last forever.
The good news is that all the things we love about spring are surprisingly good for us.
Warmer temperatures mean more time outside and more time outside means better mental
and physical health. Research suggests that spending time in nature can seriously improve
your health, from reducing stress to lowering blood pressure.
HAYFEVER is a definite culprit of spring. For many people it will feel like a cold coming
on and will range from mild to severe. Try to remember when it struck you last year and start
taking your usual antihistamine medicine a good 2-3 weeks before that date this year. A
useful tip is to apply some organic nasal balm to the base of the nostrils as this can help by
trapping pollen before it can enter the respiratory system. Also, for severe sufferers, try
brushing and washing your hair when you get home as pollen can get trapped in hair and
cause problems during the night.
Watch out for THE SUN`S RAYS! It is so tempting to go and lay in the sun after not having
the sunshine during the winter months and the lack of vitamin D. But always remember to
protect your skin with sunscreen. Do remember that in strong sun, the rays can even
penetrate some clothing and for those who are fair skinned can burn on bright hazy days
when there does not appear to be direct sunlight.
Increasing your intake of WATER is vital during spring. Drink plenty of WATER in order
to hydrate your muscles and body. Even a mild dehydration can drain your energy and leave
you feeling exhausted.
Don’t forget prevention is better than cure, so TAKE SOME SIMPLE STEPS to protect
YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY this spring and enjoy the new season.
OUTDOOR EXERCISE. If winter is too cold and summer is too hot, spring is just right for
outdoor exercise, which can actually improve your mental and physical well-being better than
an indoor sweat session. Whether it is an afternoon dinner walk or an early morning run,
longer days and moderate temperature are perfect reasons to take your workout outside.
