how to choose your next study

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR NEXT STUDY
For New Groups (the first 90-120 days)
 Brand new groups will use “Community: Starting Well In Your Small Group”
for the first 8 weeks. The purpose is to establish relational dynamics that
will be foundational for group health, whatever study you choose in the
future.
 When your group has completed the “Community” study, your next step is
to go through “What On Earth Am I Here For?” The purpose is to introduce
5 purposes for our lives, for our groups, and for our church: Worship,
Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. These purposes will
become a framework for next steps and assessment of group health.
For Experienced Groups
 Take the “Spiritual Health Assessment” as a group. Printed copies are
available at the Life Groups kiosk; you can also access this tool
electronically Here or on the flash drive you received as a new Life Group
leader. This assessment will measure where you are in relation to the 5
purposes: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism.
 Have all your members take the assessment, either on their own or during
a group meeting. Add up all the scores and divide by the number of people.
Depending on the group results, the booklet will give Crawl/Walk/Run steps
for individuals, recommended books and studies for that purpose, and
suggestions for the group to take.
 Recommended DVD studies will be available for group leaders to check out
at the Life Groups kiosk, along with one free study guide. Group members
will purchase study guides on their own, maybe from christianbook.com or
amazon.com. Book studies will not be stocked and will need to be
purchased by the group/members.
 Groups may also choose to use weekly Sermon Based Discussion Guides,
maybe following a particular weekend series.
 Another option is sharing from individual reading and study done during the
week. This gets members into the Bible, and they come ready to participate
and contribute. Check out this Bible Reading Plan if your members need
some guidance in what to read.
 Studies not on our Curriculum Options list (check back frequently as this list
is updated periodically) must be approved by the Life Groups pastor in
advance.
