PTO NEWS
Movie Night was so much fun! Your children had the best manners
and were so engaged with the characters in Inside Out!
We will be doing a very easy fundraiser this month. It is called Reading For
Education. Many of you will remember this one as all you have to do is fill out the
provided postcards, return them to school, and the company does the rest. We will
put this money towards Cheetah’s Love To Read and other reading needs in our
school. Watch for your envelope in mid Februrary.
MRS. SMYTH’S CHEETAH CHATTER
Dear Families,
Please read the following articles of all the exciting things happening at school this month!
*Jump Rope for Heart is a program encouraging students to take care of their own heart, spread the message of the
American Heart Association, and raise funds for lifesaving research. Chatfield will have a kick-off assembly on February 4
to encourage students to become involved in these activities. Students can participate at their own level of commitment
by strengthening their own heart through jumping rope in P.E. or collecting donations, or both. More details will be
forthcoming from the individual classrooms.
*You are invited to attend a 60 minute “Pop Up Tour” from Cooking Matters! The Pop Up Tour is a mock grocery store
set-up with great information to enable you to shop smarter. All participants will receive a $10 gift card to City Market to
use what you learned and buy what you like. This is not a “drop in” event. You will need to attend the entire presentation
in order to receive the gift card. Meet us at Chatfield Elementary on Thursday, February 11 at 5:00 pm. Come early or
stay late to meet with your child’s teacher for their conference! Let us know if you will be joining us! You must RSVP to
Helen Foust at 970-640-4145 by Tuesday, February 9th.
Don’t forget to call Helen Foust if you want to sign up for the Cooking Classes at Chatfield that start in March! ***See the
extra note that is going home with this Cheetah Chat!***
*Valentine’s Day Deliveries---Please do not send presents (balloons, flower arrangements, candy, stuffed animals, and
toys) to school, to be delivered to classroom parties. It is very distracting to student learning time. If items are sent, they
will be given to the student at the end of the day.
*Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, February 10 and Thursday, February 11 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Our Wednesday, February 10th conferences will be scheduled conferences for those students on READ Plans or students
of concern. School is in session. Our Thursday, February 11th conferences will be more of an “open house” style conference
setting. There will be no school on this day. Information was sent out during the week of January 19th. Please consult
with your child’s teacher if you did not receive information or if you have questions.
*We are all very proud to have the students and staff participate in our 1st St. Baldrick’s event here at Chatfield. We are
raising money to help find a cure for childhood cancers. We will be shaving heads on February 19, at 1:15 pm. We are still
collecting donations. You can go to www.stbaldricks.org/events/gj2016 to make a donation to the specific event or to a
student or staff member. You will notice that this is the website for the GJ community event. We wanted to keep all funds
coming from GJ on one webpage so that is why it says the event is in June. Anyone is welcome to join that event as well. I
want to thank each of you personally for helping make this event happen at our school and helping the students make a
difference in our community. We look forward to seeing you all on February 19th. If you have any questions please do not
hesitate to contact Ms. Carmine at 254-4930.
*Please plan to attend out Accountability Meeting on Monday, February 29 at 6:00. Everyone is invited to attend this
important school meeting!
*Tuesday, March 1st is our Open House for pre-school registration. You will meet with the pre-school teachers and learn
how your child may qualify for their program. It will start at 4:30.
*Friday March 4th is KINDGERGARTEN ROUND-UP! If your child is going to be 5 on or before July 15 and lives in the Chatfield
area, please come to school between 9-12 and register them for the school year. Please bring their Birth Certificate,
Immunization Record, and your Proof of Address for our area. Watch for a special note to come home later this month.
Please let your neighbors know as well!
*The School of Choice window for the 2016-2017 school year opens on March 7th at 10:00. Letters will be sent home
explaining the application process.
