REGULATIONS RELATING TO LIVESTOCK AND OTHER EXHIBITS
ENTERED AT THE SOCIETY’S SHOW
HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK ACT, 1974
1. Safety Requirements.
Special attention is directed to the safety requirements set out in the Health and safety at Work etc., Act, 1974, and any subsequent
legislation. The Society holds exhibitors wholly responsible for the observance of statutory regulations governing the livestock and
other exhibits exhibited by them. All exhibitors are accepted for adjudication on the understanding that they are capable of complying
with the Health and safety at Work Act 1974 and the regulations which come under that Act. Failure to comply with the statutory
regulations will mean that the exhibitor will be asked to remove him/herself and his/her exhibits from the Showground.
2. Persons are admitted to the Showground at their own risk and whilst every endeavour is taken to ensure their safety, the Society will
not (save for death or personal injury caused by negligence of the Society, its servants or agents) be responsible for personal injury
(whether fatal or otherwise), loss or damage to property and any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused.
3. Persons are admitted entry to the Show Vehicles Parks at their own risk and vehicles and their accessories and contents are admitted
to and left in the Show Vehicle Parks at the owner’s risk and, while every endeavour is taken to ensure the safety thereof, the Society
will not (save for death or personal injury caused by negligence of the Society, its servants or agents) be responsible for personal injury
(whether fatal or otherwise) loss or damage to property and any other loss of damage, cost and expenses however caused.
4. The Society, its officers or servants, shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society’s premises, or while
leaving the same, for any damage or loss, however caused, to the property of any such person, or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to
any such person.
The Society, its officers or servants, shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss, however caused, that may occur to any
exhibitor or his servants, or to any animals, articles or property brought to the Showground, or while entering or leaving or being
carried into or out of the said Showground. Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may be done
to, or occasioned by, or arising from any animal, article or property exhibited or brought on to the Showground by him/her and he/she
shall indemnify and hold harmless the Society from and against all actions, suits, expenses and claims on account of or in respect of
any such damage or injury which may be caused or occasioned. Exhibitors must insure against fire and such liabilities as the exhibitor
may incur under these regulations.
The Society, its officers and servants will not be liable for any errors or mistakes that may happen in placing or penning stock or
articles to be exhibited, but the servants in charge of the same must see that they are placed according to their entries.
5. Any owner or attendant in charge of stock will be subject to the orders of the Stewards and will be required to exhibit or parade the
animals in his charge at such times as may be directed and any owner disobeying such orders or using abusive or offensive language or
servants will be liable to be fined and/or removed from the Showground at the option of the officials of the Society. Persons in charge
of animals shall be in attendance each day during the Show.
6. The stewards, on the recommendations of the Society’s veterinary officers, shall have the power to remove from the Showground,
any unruly, vicious, deformed or diseased animals, and also the stock, implements or miscellaneous articles belonging to any exhibitor
who shall refuse to comply with the instructions given by the Stewards without any responsibility attaching to them or to the Society in
consequence of such removal.
7. Judges as well as Stewards shall have the power to remove any unruly animal from the judging ring.
8. Any owner or attendant in charge of stock will be subject to the orders of the Society, its Officers or Stewards and any owner or
attendant in charge of stock disobeying such orders through non-compliance or using abusive, offensive or threatening language or
behaviour will be removed from the showground at the discretion of the appropriate Sectional Superintendent Steward and be liable to
further actions by the Society under 'Regulations Relating to Livestock, item 21.
9. Alcohol - It will be an evictable offence to consume alcoholic drink on any area of the Showground with the exception of the
designated alcohol licensed areas.
10. Dogs - Persons are not encouraged to bring dogs onto the showground, but if it is essential to do so then the dog must be kept on a
lead at all times. Should dogs be found roaming on the showground during the Show then the Society would have to give further
consideration to a total ban. Stray dogs are a serious danger to persons and animals. Please note that NO dogs are allowed in the
Livestock (cattle) Building, Sheep Lines, Horse Lines, Goat Lines, Fur and Feather Marquee, Produce Marquee, Grandstands, Food
Hall or any of the Society’s dinning Marquees. The Society reserves the right at its absolute discretion to remove from the Showground
any dog which the Society deems to be unruly or aggressive’

RULES
1. The Society shall be called “The Anglesey Agricultural Society”. Its objects are to promote the breeding of good stock and to
encourage Agricultural Improvements and Education.
2. The Society shall consist of a President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Honorary Chairman, Vice-Chairman and
Immediate Past Chairman of the Council, Honorary Director, Honorary Deputy Directors, Honorary Legal Adviser, Honorary
Treasurer, Honorary Assistant Treasurer, Show Administrator, Vice-Presidents, Council, Emergency Sub-Committee, such other SubCommittees as the Council may from time to time deem necessary, and Members.
3. Every subscriber of Twenty Five pounds (Twenty Three Pounds inclusive of VAT if paid before 1st May or competing) or over
per annum (inclusive of V.A.T.), shall become a Member of the Society. Two persons subscribing Fifty pounds (Forty Six Pounds
inclusive of VAT if paid before 1st May or competing) or over per annum (inclusive of V.A.T.) shall be entitled to a “Dual
Membership” and shall be entitled to the privileges of two Members. Every subscriber of Sixty Nine Pounds (Sixty Three Pounds
inclusive of VAT if paid before 1st May or competing) or over per annum (inclusive of V.A.T.), shall be entitled to a “Family
Membership” and shall be entitled to the privileges of a Dual Membership as well as receiving up to three tickets of admission to the
Show for their children. (The name and date of birth of the children must be registered with the Show Office)
Every subscriber of Fifty Pounds (Forty Eight Pounds inclusive of VAT if paid before 1st May or competing) or over per annum
(inclusive of V.A.T.) shall become a Vice-President of the Society. Two persons subscribing Eighty Four pounds (Eighty Two
Pounds inclusive of VAT if paid before 1st May or competing) or over per annum (inclusive of V.A.T.) shall be entitled to a “Dual
Vice Presidency” and shall be entitled to the privileges of two Vice-Presidents. Every subscriber of Ninety Nine Pounds (Ninety Four
Pounds inclusive of VAT if paid before 1st May or competing) or over per annum (inclusive of V.A.T.), shall be entitled to a
“Family Vice Presidency” and shall be entitled to the privileges of a Dual Vice Presidency as well as receiving up to three tickets of
admission to the Show for their children. (The name and date of birth of all children must be registered with the Show Office)
No person who shall have been excluded from this or any other Agricultural Society shall be allowed to become a Member of this
Society for two years after he/she shall be so excluded.
4. Subscriptions shall be considered due and payable on the 31st March in each year unless written notice of withdrawal shall have
been given to the Show Administrator prior to that date. A Member who has not paid his/her subscriptions for the current year will not
be entitled to vote at any meeting and will not be entitled to entry fees at reduced rates.
Instructions to pay via Direct Debit must be received by the end of February in the current year (Direct Debit instructions
received after this date will commence on or around 31st March in the following year). Payment via cash/cheque/P.O. will not
be accepted after the 1st of August in the current year.
The rights and privileges of a Member shall be personal to him/herself and are not transferable or transmissible. In the case of a Firm,
one subscription shall entitle the partners therein to the joint rights and privileges of one individual Member, and any one Partner shall
be entitled to exercise such rights and enjoy such privileges on behalf of the Firm, on nomination by such Firm.
5. The Annual General Meeting of the Society shall be held as soon as possible after 31st October in each year and at such meeting the
Members shall elect the President, the President-elect, Chairman of the Council, Vice-Chairman and the officials, and Members of the
Council, A voting paper bearing more than eight, or less than eight, votes, will be declared invalid.
6. The Management Committee shall consist of all Members, Vice-Presidents and officials.
7. The Council shall consist of the Society’s Officials, twenty four elected Members, together with the Immediate Past President, the
Immediate Past Chairman, the Chief Stewards and the Chairman and Superintendent Steward of each section. One third of the elected
Members shall retire each year and shall not be eligible for re-election for a period of twelve months. Membership of the Policy SubCommittee shall be confined to the elected Members and the Show Officials.
The Council shall decide on the date of the next show, consider all the Society’s financial matters, examine and pass accounts for
payment, appoint an emergency Sub-Committee to act on the days of the Show or during any other emergency, make all arrangements
as to the Show Ground and generally arrange any other business in connection with the Show.
8. Each Sectional Sub-Committee shall, for its respective section, appoint a Chairman each year who shall be the Superintendent
Steward of the Section, prepare draft prize lists and consider the names of Judges submitted by the Breed Societies, or, in the absence
of such submissions, nominate Judges for the approval of the Council.
9. At any Committee Meeting five, and at a General Meeting eleven, Members shall form a quorum for the transaction of business.
10. An Annual Balance Sheet, made up to 31st October in each year, shall be prepared by the Show Administrator and Treasurer and
submitted to the Auditors, with vouchers, before the Annual General Meeting and, after audit, shall be laid before such General
Meeting.
11. Members will be allowed to compete in all classes (except Horse Jumping) in which they are eligible, on payment of one half the
entrance fees prescribed for Non-Members.
12. Any proposals of new rules, or suggestions for alterations to the old rules, shall be made and decided upon at the General Meeting,
provided that notices of such proposals or suggestions are handed to the Show Administrator not later than 31st October in each year, or

at a Special Meeting of Members, such meeting to be called by a requisition signed by not less than five Members and sent to the Show
Administrator not less than fourteen days before such Meeting is required to be held.
REGULATIONS RELATING TO LIVESTOCK
1. OWNERSHIP OF EXHIBITS
All exhibits for competition must be the “bona-fide” property of the exhibitor on the day of the Show.
2. OPEN AND DISTRICT CLASSES
All classes are open unless otherwise specified. “District Classes” are confined to the District of the Society, viz the isle of Anglesey.
3. ENTRIES IN MORE THAN ONE CLASS
An animal shall be allowed to enter in as many classes as it is eligible to compete. Exhibitors will, however, enter more than one class
at their own risk, and the time tables etc., will NOT be rearranged when there is a possibility of the timing of competitions coinciding.
REQUESTS FOR CLASSES OR THE GRAND PARADE TO BE HELD BACK, WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.
4. CERTIFICATE OF ENTRY
Except in the case of Horse jumping, and where otherwise stated in the schedule, all persons intending to exhibit stock for competition
must send the Certificate of Entry in the prescribed form, to the Show Administrator of the Society as per the Closing date of entry as
shown on page 1. The name, age, colour and pedigree of each animal must be stated. The Society reserves the right to refuse
entries by any exhibitor in any section without having to give any reason.
5. PAYMENT OF MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION
Members whose subscriptions have not been paid at the time their entries are made will not be entitled to enter at the reduced Members
rate. (Please refer to Rules (3) above for subscription rates)
6. TIME WHEN EXHIBITS ARE REQUIRED ON THE SHOWGROUND
All stock intended for exhibition must be on the Ground by 9.30 a.m., unless the judging commences earlier or later than shown on
pages 2 and 3.PLEASE NOTE THAT HORSE VEHICLES ARE NOT BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE SHOWGROUND
BEFORE 11am ON BOTH DAYS OF THE SHOW
7. POSITION AND REMOVAL OF EXHIBITS
All the exhibits must be placed in the respective position assigned to them. Champion, Reserve Champion, 1st, 2nd&
3rdprizewinnersmust remain on exhibition until after the Grand Parade unless written permission has been granted by the Show
Administrator. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the exhibitor being dealt with under Regulation No. 20.
8. LABELS, NUMBERS & EXHIBITOR’S ADMISSION TICKETS
Previous to the Show, a numbered label or card corresponding with the entry in the Show Catalogue will be forward to all exhibitors,
but should this fail to arrive, through any cause, the exhibits should be brought or sent to the Show Ground along with the number of
the Class in which such exhibits are entered and the exhibitor’s name and address attached thereto.
Exhibitors in the Light Horse Section Only will receive the following number of ticket(s) of admission to the Show Ground:

9. MARKING OR DISTINGUISHING EXHIBITS
Until the prizes have been awarded in any Class, the exhibits will be distinguished only by the official numbers affixed thereon, which
will be supplied by the Show Administrator prior to the opening of the Show. These numbers will correspond with the respective
numbers in the Show Catalogue. Any other method of identifying any exhibit, or indicating its ownership, is strictly prohibited. The
Committee will not be responsible unless the entry of the exhibits is on the form and published in the Show Catalogue.
10.JUDGING RINGS
Judging Rings will be provided for all animals and no-one shall be allowed therein during judging, except the Judges, Stewards, and
the persons in charge of the stock.
11. STEWARDS AS EXHIBITORS
No person shall act as a Steward for a Section in which he is an Exhibitor.
12. INTERFERENCE WITH JUDGES
Any person interfering with the Judges, Stewards or Show Officials shall be removed from the Show Ground and, if an exhibitor, shall
be disqualified from taking any prize.

13. THIRD PRIZE
In any Class in which a third prize is not scheduled and there are not less than eight exhibits, the Judge shall be empowered, provided
there is sufficient merit, and subject to the approval of the Committee, to award a third prize.
14. CHALLENGE CUPS AND TROPHIES
The Challenge Cups and Trophies are the sole property of the Society until they are won outright.
Challenge Cups or Trophies must returned to the Show Office before the 30th April of the succeeding Show, and holders shall give an
undertaking to return it in a sound, untarnished and clean condition. Exhibitors who do not return cups/trophies by this date may
be prohibited from exhibiting at future Shows.
THE SOCIETY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO OCCASIONALLY WITHHOLD THE PRESENTATION OF CUPS AND
TROPHIES FOR VALUATION OR SIMILAR PURPOSES.
CUPS/TROPHIES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION UNTIL AFTER THE GRAND PARADE.
15. INSTRUCTION TO JUDGES
In awarding prizes, Judges are instructed to add a reserve number in each instance (provided there is sufficient merit) stating the next
best exhibit in case any exhibit to which a prize has been awarded should be disqualified. Classes are to be strictly judged in the order
listed in the schedule.
16. AWARDING OF PRIZES
The Judges will be instructed not to award any prize, reserve number or commendation, unless the exhibit posse’s sufficient merit.
The Society reserves the right not to award any prize or commendation to any animal which contravenes the animal welfare
regulations.
17. VETERINARY REFEREE
A qualified Veterinary Surgeon shall be appointed annually by the Council. He shall, at the request of the Judges or Stewards of any
Class examine the stock exhibited such Class and any animal which he may then report to be suffering from hereditary disease, or to be
of an age or size other than that required by the conditions of Class, shall be disqualified and he or the Stewards shall also as soon as
possible and within one week of the day of the Show, report to the Show Administrator every exhibitor who may have, in their
opinion, broken any rule or regulation of the Society.
18. PROTESTS
Any person may submit a protest. All protests shall be made in writing to the Show Administrator within one hour of the judging of
the particular Class. All protests must be accompanied by a deposit of Twenty-Five Pounds, which amount shall be returned to the
depositor if the protest is substantiated, otherwise to be forfeited to the Society.
19. HEARING OF PROTESTS
A Meeting of the Council shall, if necessary, be convened within fourteen days of the second day of the Show to receive the reports of
the Veterinary Surgeon and Stewards and to hear protests. Their decision thereon shall be final. No prize money shall be paid before
the expiration of a period of fourteen days.
20. PENALTIES
If, on considering any protest, or the report of the Veterinary Surgeon or of any Stewards made without protest, it shall be proved to the
satisfaction of the Council that any exhibitor has wilfully given a false certificate of entry for competition, or has obtained a prize
through imposition or misstatement contrary to the Rules and Regulations of the Society, or, if within seven days after the Show,
whether a protest may have been entered or not, an irregularity on the part of any exhibitor or his/her servant which would disqualify
such exhibitor from competing or receiving a prize awarded to him/her be discovered and proved to the satisfaction of the Council, the
Council shall have the power to with-hold any prize awarded and to exclude such exhibitor from competing at the Society’s Shows for
two years from such exclusion. The Council’s decision thereon shall be final.
21. POWERS OF THE COUNCIL
All disputes regarding Rules and Regulations of the Society, together with all questions, the consideration of which is not otherwise
provided for, shall be referred to the Council, whose decision thereon shall be final.
22. TENTS, CARAVANS AND OTHER VEHICLES USED FOR ACCOMMODATION
Exhibitors bringing tents/caravans to the Show must request a ‘Caravan Label’ and enclose a fee of £24.00 (inc. Vat) with the
application form. All persons staying in the tent/caravan must have a valid admission ticket, or proof thereof, for the period that the
caravan is on the Showground.
All tents, caravans and other vehicles used for accommodation brought on to the Showground must be parked 3 metres apart and must
comply with all current fire regulations. Local Fire Authority Officers will have powers to re-position and inspect all tents, caravans
and other vehicles used for accommodation on the Showground. Persons not complying with the regulations to the satisfaction of the
Fire Authority Officer will be removed from the Showground. All tents, caravans and other vehicles used for accommodation MUST
be sited in the designated areas.
23. VEHICLE CHECKS
Officials and Stewards reserve the right to inspect all vehicles on arrival at the Showground.

24. SUBSTITUTE JUDGES
Should a judge be prevented from fulfilling his engagement for any reason, the Administrator and Superintendent Steward of the
relevant section reserve the right to appoint a substitute.
25. INSPECTION OF ANIMALS
The Society reserves the right to have animals inspected by a Veterinary Officer and to further carry out investigations/tests where
necessary.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
This schedule is issued conditionally upon the Show being held and subject to all persons attending the Show abiding to the Rules,
Orders and Regulations of the Welsh Government and the Animal and Plant Health Agency, or any Special Regulations of the
Society’s Council.
26. SPECIAL CONDITIONS-HORSES
(a) Horses competing in the Driving Classes must be driven in the Show Ring and exhibitors are therefore to provide carriages and
harness (not necessarily their own) for that purpose.
(b) GRAND PARADE
(i)
Champion, Reserve Champion, 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners in the Light Horse & Shire Horse Classes shall parade,
in the order of entry in the Grand Parade in the Show Ring, unless specifically exempted in writing by the Show
Administrator. Other prize winners may parade if desired. Exhibitors eligible for the Grand Parade will be
issued with a Parade Card’ with their rosette that MUST be completed and surrendered to the designated
Steward on entry to the Grand Parade. Prize money will not be paid to exhibitors unless the card is
surrendered on entry to the Grand Parade. It is the Exhibitors responsibility to ensure that the ‘Parade
Card’ accompanies their Horse/Pony to the Grand Parade.
(ii)
In-hand and Ridden exhibitors 10 years old and under must not take part in the Grand Parade (prize
money will be honoured if applicable).
(iii)
In-hand and Ridden exhibitors 11 years old to 14 years old MUST be accompanied in the Grand Parade
with a competent adult.
(iv)
Requests to delay the commencement of a Class or the Grand Parade because of coinciding classes will not be
entertained under any circumstances.
(c) All Stallions must hold a Ministry Licence/Breed Society Licence.
(d) All animals entered in the Welsh Pony and Cob Sections must be registered, or eligible for registration, in that Society’s Studbook.
(e) Animals not entered in a Class will not be allowed to compete and substitutions will not be allowed.
(f) Progeny and Breeders Classes (with the exception of the Classes in the Pure, Part Bred & Anglo Arab Section) must not be entered
as ‘Selected‘ or ‘Nominated‘. Names of the animals entered must appear on the Entry Form.
(g) JUDGING RINGS
(i) Exhibits entering the Judging Ring after the stipulated time will not be accepted for judging.
(ii) Horses/Ponies must not run or exercise in the judging/collecting rings. Exhibitors not adhering to this regulation will be
disqualified and banned from competing at the Show for a period of three years.
(iii) Only the handler/rider to be present in the judging rings (with the exception of Young Handlers and Lead Rein classes)
(h) Stud Book/Registration No. must be entered on the entry form when requested. Entry forms received without Stud
book/Registration No. will not be accepted.
(i) All mounted competitors / riders, whilst riding on the Show ground must wear a skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the
current approved British Standard Specification or European Standard and must be of a standard approved by the governing body
under whose rules they are exhibiting. The specification recommended by the B.H.S. is BSEN 1384 or PAS015. This condition does
not apply to competitors in the Side Saddle and Ridden Registered Pure World Breed classes whilst in the judging ring. By
signing the Show Entry Form exhibitors in these classes disclaim any legal actions against the Society for any injury whilst not
wearing riding hats that are to the above specification.
(j) Mares with a living foal born during the current season may not be shown in ridden classes.
(k) Exhibitors arriving at the Showground after 9.00pm must enter via the Green Gate entrance.
(l) Horses and Ponies must not be left loose unattended to graze on any part of the showground.
(m) Exhibitors are also reminded to abide by the relevant Breed Society Rules.
(n) All Colts and Stallions must be suitably bitted.

ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW 2018 QUALIFIERS
The Society designates certain Shows as qualifying shows for the RIHS at which horses may qualify for the RIHS in the current year
or at specific shows for the following year. At these Shows the two highest placed horses in the Lightweight, Middleweight,
Heavyweight, Small and Ladies (side saddle) Classes will qualify to enter at the RIHS. No horse lower than second will qualify. All
regulations applicable to HOYS qualifiers will apply also to RIHS qualifiers. Entry fee for RIHS Qualifying classes are £12 per
class. Each class is also subject to an additional £9.00 RIHS levy per entry (total £21.00 per entry)
Owners & Riders must be current members of SHB(GB) in all SHB(GB) ridden classes. Day Ticket = £30 (this entitles
competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration
for that show). I f the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider
membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days.
The 1st prize in the RIHS qualifying classes (Classes 33 to 37) will be £25.
IDHS (GB) SPECIAL INCENTIVE CARDS – The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the
highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in classes 31 to 38. To be eligible, exhibits must be registered
with or over-stamped by the IDHS (GB) on either their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers.
Registration numbers must be stated on the entry form.
This Show is a Qualifier for the BLUE CHIP & IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE
The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following classes 31 to 38 that is registered or eligible for registration
on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers i.e. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding, will
qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish Draught Horse
Society (GB) to qualify, but MUST be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship, which will be held at the IDHS
(GB) Annual Breed Show on 19th - 20th August 2017 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF. NB: A horse may
only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each Qualifier will receive
a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at www.idhsgb.com to inform the
IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 prize money, a Trophy and a
Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each. In addition, the
highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will receive a Trophy and £100 and the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a
Trophy and £50 and the highest placed Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive a silver salver and a rug.

awarded to the winner in this class. The Premium will only be awarded if there are a minimum of three mares forward.
The Premium will take the form of a service voucher valued at £100 which will be awarded at the Judge’s discretion to their
selection from the monetary prize winners, to be used towards the cost of covering the mare by any SHB (GB) Graded
Stallion or Life Approved Premium Stallion. The Service Voucher may be used in either of the two years following the year
of that award. The owner must be, or become, a fully paid up member. No Mare shall take more than one award per year.

These Classes are held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Competitors and Horses must be registered or have
temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by a current
BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form.
DAY TICKETS
Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will
allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT
allow entry into RIHS or Horse of the Year qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height
certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website.
Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and
Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes.
The three highest placed prize winners in all Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at
the National Championship Show 2017.
The BSHA offer a Novice, Amateur and Young Rider rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the
exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes). The Association will also award an Amateur
Home Produced rosette in all Affiliated Open Cob classes. These rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley and the
Maxi Cob rosettes have been kindly sponsored by Mr & Mrs E McCourt. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how
many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year.
BSHA Rising Stars Championship 2017
Any exhibitor placed in the first three in Intermediate classes for Show Riding Type or Show Hunter Type may enter the Rising Stars
class at the BSHA National Championship Show September 2017. No qualifying cards are required.
IDHS (GB) SPECIAL INCENTIVE CARDS – The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the
highest placed Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in classes 90 & 91. To be eligible, exhibits must be registered
with or over-stamped by the IDHS (GB) on either their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers.
Registration numbers must be stated on the entry form.
This Show is a Qualifier for the BLUE CHIP & IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE
The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following classes 90, 91 & 92 that is registered or eligible for
registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers i.e. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught
breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish
Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify, but MUST be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship, which will be

held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 19th & 20th August 2017 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF.
NB: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each
Qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at
www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded
£1,000 prize money, a Trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be
awarded £100 each. In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will be awarded a Trophy and £100 and the highest placed
158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a Trophy and £50 and the highest placed Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive a

Members carrying their current Championships Points Cards are eligible for S.S.A. rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior
places and S.S.A. Championship points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member under 14 on 1st
January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud
Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out.

SIDE SADDLE COSTUME CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE CLASS – the sole criteria for this class is the elegance of the
picture presented by the horse/pony and rider, and the way of going of the horse/pony. Safe tack must be used.
Detailed inspection of the rider’s period costume is not required. Fancy dress is not permitted. Competitors are required to
walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask small groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short
displays. 2 Special rosettes to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the S.S.A. carrying their current
Championship Points Cards. Competitors should produce a brief résume about their costumes for the Commentator. The
exhibitor, prior to judging must hand this in to the Public Address unit situated alongside the Main Ring. Juniors

This Show is a Qualifier for the BLUE CHIP & IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE
The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of the following classes 260, 261 & 262 that is registered or eligible for
registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers i.e. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught
breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish
Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify, but MUST be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by the time of the Championship, which will be
held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 19th & 20th August 2017 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF.
NB: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each
Qualifier will receive a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at
www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded

CUDDY OPEN WORKING HUNTER MARE or GELDING or STALLION (run under B.S.H.A. rules 2017)
(competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old or over, exceeding
148cm, to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st
January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All Riders, Owners and Producers must
be Members of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association.
Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences.
The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One
(Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go
forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take
forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). This class will be run in
accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded
from www.hoys.co.uk.
Marks must be awarded in the following way: PHASE I (60 MARKS) A: JUMPING POINTS40 MARKS, B: STYLE
WHILE JUMPING20 MARKS; PHASE II (40 MARKS) C: CONFORMATION20 MARKS, D: RIDE20 MARKS. In
the event of equality the CONFORMATION MARK from Phase 2 will take precedence, followed by the RIDE MARK,

In their individual show, ponies will be expected to negotiate small rural obstacles, but without water and without
jumping. Riders will not be asked to dismount.

Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over. Horses should be
ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first FOUR go forward to the
championship at the Hickstead Derby Meeting IN JUNE 2018. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and
include their registration number on entry form and have RACED in GB. All those entering horses and/or
participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to
time in force’. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will
provide 2 ride judges should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must
wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this

To be driven by a disabled person accompanied by an experienced able-bodied whip in a suitable vehicle or a vehicle
built purpose built to carry a wheelchair. Each turnout to have groom on foot suitably attired. Harness must have
two pairs of reins and pony/donkey to wear a head collar under the bridle. To be driven in the traditional English
Style, or the driver to use reins with any necessary adaptations. The whip may be carried by the able-bodied
companion if necessary.
The Class will be judged on:
1) The ability of the driver - to be prime importance.
2) The behaviour of the Pony/Donkey.
3) The safety, cleanliness and suitability of the turnout.
4) The fit condition of the harness (spares to be carried.)
5) The balance of the vehicle.

to be judged 15% on vehicle suitability, fit & cleanliness: 15% harness suitability, fit & cleanliness: 70% on driver &
groom, horse/pony, way of going and suitability as a family pleasure animal. Competitors may be given a brief series
of tasks e.g. driving through cones. Pneumatic tyres specifically designed for carriages (i.e. not car tyres) are allowed.
Lamps need not be carried.

PRIVATE DRIVING CLASSES
The BDS Wales National Private Driving Championships qualifiers are open to any BDS member driving a traditional or traditional
type turnout and will be allocated to the winner of the Private Driving class or Private Driving Championship class if the show runs
more than one Private Driving class. If the qualifier is allocated to a BDS member not resident in Wales, a second qualifier will be
allocated to the highest placed whip resident in Wales. If the winner is resident in Wales, they receive both qualifiers. The
Championships will be held at the BDS Wales Show on August 13th 2017 at the United Counties Showground, Carmarthen. Whips
allocated qualifiers for 2018 should look at www.bdswales.org.uk after August 13th 2017 to see the date for the 2018 championships.
This is a VICTORIA FOOD COMPANY OPEN PRIVATE DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER. The Champion will
qualify for the Grand Final to be held on Sunday 10th September 2017 at the Wellington Riding Centre, Heckfield, Hook, Hampshire
RG27 0LJ. In the event that the Champion has already qualified then the Reserve Champion to qualify. If the Reserve has also
qualified the rosette to be awarded back to the Champion. Once qualified, the horse, whip and vehicle may not be changed.
