Ideas for use:
1.
Elicit prepositions and sequencing words. Students are given instructions
with images and map. Worksheet A. Cut-up images and students resequence in order. Play video as many times as necessary.
2.
Provide worksheets B and C. Students role-play asking for directions to
different buildings in Leeds.
Extension activities
3.
Prepositions of place (on, in, next to etc) – students draw buildings onto
blank map and give instructions to partner to navigate.
3.
Grammar focus on imperatives for giving directions.
4.
Students listen to sound with volume down and follow directions on map.
Are the directions correct? How would they do it differently? Are there
other routes they know of?
5.
Discussion/brainstorming activity based around buildings. Freeze frame
and discuss positions, functions, size, materials made from etc.
7.
Blindfolding game where one student must rely on his teammates as they
give him instructions to get somewhere in the classroom.
8.
Freeze frame – what is he doing? Work on the present continuous.
