Exams Should it be necessary to miss an exam due to an emergency such as illness or a death in the family, please e-mail me as soon as possible. If an exam is missed is missed for good cause, as judged by me, either a make-up exam will be offered or the student will be excused from the exam, and the weights assigned to other exams will be adjusted. The final exam is comprehensive and mandatory. Homework Homework problems will be posted on the web at https://courses.utexas.edu in the “assignments folder” but will not be collected for grading. In lieu of graded homework, there will be short (5-15 minutes) in-class quizzes. The two lowest quiz grades will be dropped at the end of the semester. No makeup quizzes will be given. Often, quiz problems will be similar to, but not identical to homework problems. Illegible quizzes will not be graded. No credit given for unsupported answers. Enough work should be shown so that your method can be reconstructed and its validity could be determined.
