Volunteer Role Description
Bring your energy and enthusiasm to make lots of noise to motivate our fantastic Macmillan
runners/cyclists at events such as The Great Birmingham Run, and Birmingham’s International
Marathon, and thank them for going the extra mile. It may also encourage them to take part again
next year and inspire others to join Team Macmillan too, helping us to raise more money so that
no one faces cancer alone.
What’s involved?
 Set up and decorate the cheer point with balloons and banners
 Cheer on our runners/cyclists as they pass
 Act as an ambassador for Macmillan on the day
of the event.
What will you get out of it?
 Join an enthusiastic team of people who want to
make a difference, just like you
 Receive a briefing and support on the day, and
agreed out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed
within our guidelines
 Have a rewarding experience supporting our runners/cyclists
How much time should I give?
We’re looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours on the day of the events on 30th April
2017 and 15th October 2017, and any other local events throughout 2017.

We know that more than one in three of us will get cancer. For most of us it will be the toughest
fight we ever face. Now, more than ever, we need people like you to join our team and help us
make sure that no one faces cancer alone. Whether it’s minutes or months, hours or days, the
time you give by volunteering for Macmillan really does matter.
