Steam turbine
The turbine is a machine that converts the kinetic
energy of a moving fluid (liquid or gas) into
mechanical energy.
In the case of combined cycle plants the fluid in
question is superheated steam. The essential
element of the turbine is the rotor consistent of a
wheel with "palettes". The mechanical energy
gained by the rotor is then transmitted to a
crankshaft that is used to set in motion an electrical
generator which is called alternator.
