Workshop on Frequency Policy And Spectrum Engineering 2016
Brief history of the NIT
(radio and EMC aspects)
• Established in 1934 (prof. J. Groszkowski)
• NIT realized first TV transmission in Poland: 1937 and 1952 (Warsaw)
• NIT Wrocław Branch (Antennas, EMC) established in 1956 (prof. R. Strużak, W. Moroń)
• In 1972 NIT organized first European EMC Symposium (Wroclaw EMC 1972)
• In 70’s and 80’s of XX century NIT performed technical analysis for spectrum engineering
for international coordination realized by Ministry: first digital maps (DEM) in region, first
software for spectrum analysis in Poland, took part in the ITU work
• In 90’s of XX century NIT supported Regulator (PAR) with international frequency
coordination and developed software tools with engineering analysis for different radio
services the Regulator (MTV, UKF FM, NSS, Mobicoor, Linrad etc.), and with ITU/CEPT work
• In XXI century NIT continue developing software tools for R&D, spectrum engineering and
network planning (Linrad, Interferencje, MTV-Win, PIAST project, M-ISZCZ)

Summary
• Based on our long experience we are continue developing and updating software tools for
frequency management and network planning for different radio services and
compatibility analysis
• The software are complete complex systems (e.g. M-ISZCZ for frequency management for
Ministry of the Interior and Administration), small scale systems dedicated for special
purposes (e.g. fixed services, broadcasting networks) or modules for other applications
(e.g. some propagation models, plug-ins, libraries)
• The software is used for our own purposes (e.g. research areas – TV WS, commercial
projects) or for usage by others (e.g. commercial access, Academia, Web free access, plugins for SEAMCAT)
• We are ready for developing any software systems for frequency management fulfilling any
type of client needs (also requesting usage special digital data and special needs raised by
customers)
• Some analysis are already avalible freely to all at our Web service: www.piast.edu.pl
