Dear parents, pupils and members of the community, welcome to our May/June newsletter.
As summer seems to have finally arrived, we are looking forward to a calendar full of exciting events. We are
pleased to announce the appointment of our new EYFS specialist Miss Abbey Heafford who will be joining us
from September. We are delighted with the results of the interview process that saw over 20 applications for
the position. We hope you will join us at our next communications evening (see date on reverse) where there
will be an opportunity to meet her and as ever share your thoughts and opinions on school matters. I’m sure you
will be pleased to hear that we will be in a position in the next couple of weeks to announce the full class
structure for the forthcoming academic year. We are also in real need of another mid-day supervisor. If you are
interested in the position, or know someone who maybe, then please contact the school office. Finally, I would
like to thank all our children who have been taking their SATs – they’ve given their best and coped admirably.

Year 2 Residential
Dove Cottage – Sun 14th May
Thank you to all the children who sang at
the recent Dove Cottage Fete. You did a
fantastic job and sounded amazing!
Cricket and Countryside Day – Tue 23trd May
The children enjoyed a fantastic day at Knipton Cricket Ground. They took part in a range of cricket related
activities in the morning followed by an informative afternoon on countryside activities. Thanks to everyone
who helped to make the day possible, including coaches, staff and local members of the community.
Junior Duathlon –Fri 23rd June 9am
Sports Update –May/June 2017
We are excited to announce that the first Stathern
Junior Duathlon will take place this summer. The
event will, this year, initially just involve children
from the school and we will be asking everyone to
take part.
The event will consist of a short run followed by a
flat bike course followed by the same run. For those
children who can’t ride a bike, there will be a single
run course to complete.
Two of our children have led the organisation of the
event and we hope everyone will have lots of fun
competing and challenging themselves. A letter
explaining the event in more detail will follow.
