will set up your File .
If you choose US Paper, all the defaults
for US Paper come up. However you can
also choose:
Resolution
If the Image is for something that will be
printed always use 300
If the Image is for the Web use 72 for
the resolution.
Image Modes
RGB Color is how the colors will look on
your computer screen
CMYK Is how color looks when printed.

•Contrast is the difference between the parts

Rectangular Marquee Tool lets you

Short cut: Ctrl D Gets rid of the Marching Ants
The next set of tools allow
us to select irregular shapes
Magic Wand Tool allows us to select
an area that is all exactly the same
color. Click on the Magic Wand Tool
then click on the large big area of
color, so long as it is connected.
Quick selection Tool allows us to
paint an area
Lasso Tool allows us to draw the outline of the area
we want to copy.
Polygonal Lasso Tool allows us to select doors
billboards or things that are not perfectly rectangular
by clicking on all the edges till you reach the
beginning point.
Magnetic Tool tries to find the edges of what you are
selecting. ( Great tool but not perfect. Works best
when there is a lot of contrast between what you
want to select and its background.

Understanding File Sizes and Flattening
Make a Small Copy that we can share
since the image is so big we need to
make it smaller.
To shrink the Image Go to Image
Menu and Click Image Size
The Size is too big 24.0 M
When we flatten an image we loose the ability to
make changes you
will not be flattening
Resampling
Changes the
amount of
data in the
document
Layer Menu and Select Flatten Image and your
picture becomes one layer
and you cannot make any change, but the size
of your document becomes 7.66

Change width to 1000 pixels
Make sure Resample Image is Checked.
When you change the Width the Height
automatically changes to 670 ( this happens
because the constraints are locked they
change together.)
Click the Drop Down Arrow next to Bicubic
(best for smooth gradients) and Select Best
for Reduction. If you were making the
picture larger you would choose best for
