Mode of delivery
When a bowler
commences ANY spell of
bowling:
right arm, over
the wicket
umpire must
ascertain his action &
inform batsman

underarm bowling not allowed unless agreed before toss

Bowling from behind the umpire
is NOT automatically illegal
Angle of delivery is all important
If bowled close to umpire then he
may be satisfied that back foot was
within return crease

If ball travels down the pitch
at an angle
- the umpire may judge that the
back foot was not within the
return crease
- the umpire MUST be satisfied
that the back foot complied
with the law
- if there is ANY doubt umpire
will call and signal No ball

Penalty for a No ball
- 1 run penalty is awarded INSTANTLY
- this 1 run penalty will stand whatever happens
- any runs which ensue are recorded in ADDITION to this penalty

- batsman credited ONLY with runs scored from the bat
- if he does NOT hit it and runs are scored
