COUNT ON US
PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT
School Support Package Pilot Application
Over the past year the Mayor’s Fund for London has implemented a parental engagement in
maths project in 28 schools across London. From this project we created a good practice
guide website to support schools to set up their own parental engagement in maths
strategy/action plan. One of the project aims was to understand the key variables to successful
implementation. The most successful schools, were those who had complete staff buy in. We
learnt that if the entire staff, from the headteacher to the teaching staff, weren’t fully on board,
then the project would be significantly less impactful. We have now produced a School Support
Package which aims to address this issue from the beginning by engaging all staff in the planning
and implementation of the project. Now is your opportunity to get involved by piloting the
SSP. Read the information below and fill in the application form for your opportunity to be part
of the pilot.
School Support Package
The aim of the package is to support schools to be prepared for the initial planning and set up
stage of their parental engagement strategy.
The package consists of:
 Half day senior leadership training session
 Half day staff training and development package
 Action planning and strategy support
Pilot and Selection Criteria
Schools located within the Hillingdon Community Trust district are welcome to apply to be
part of the SSP programme. The chosen schools will receive £300 to cover any resources and
time spent.
As a social mobility charity, the Mayor’s Fund focuses on those children who are most in need.
To be eligible for the pilot, schools must be located in a London borough, and have higher than
average pupils on free school meals or be situated in an area of deprivation
Monitoring information
Schools will be required to send a member of SLT to attend the senior leadership training
session which will be at a local school (date TBC in the Autumn term). The school will also
need to allocate one twilight or half day session to run the whole school training. The school
will need to create a parental engagement action plan for maths which will be reviewed by our
parental engagement expert.
