By car
Seattle is about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Vancouver, assuming traffic is
reasonable. Once you reach Seattle, follow driving directions to Swedish.
By plane
Several airlines fly nonstop between Vancouver, Calgary and Seattle’s Sea-Tac
airport, including Air Canada, Alaska, Northwest and United.
If you’re traveling from Victoria or the Gulf Islands, Kenmore Air provides daily, yearround seaplane service. Kenmore Air’s flights land on Seattle’s Lake Union, just a
short cab ride from Swedish.
From the airport
If you choose to fly into Sea-Tac Airport, you’ll need to arrange transportation from
the airport to your hotel or to Swedish. You can rent a car at the airport, or head to
the Ground Transportation Center in the baggage claim area to find other options.
Cabs are plentiful and the typical fare runs approximately $45.
Shuttle Express offers round-the-clock scheduled shared-ride service with several
departures to Downtown Seattle every hour. Swedish offers a 10 percent discount to
our international patients for use of the shuttle. Please contact them at 425-981-7000

Seattle’s new Link Light Rail Service offers quick, easy service between Sea-Tac
and downtown. The train runs from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. every day. Trip time is about
36 minutes.
By sea
If you’re traveling from Victoria, the Victoria Clipper ferry can transport you here in
just under three hours. Round-trip fares vary from $80-$155 U.S. The Victoria Clipper
Terminal is located at Pier 69 on the Downtown Seattle waterfront.

Hotels
Swedish has negotiated special rates with two nearby hotels. If you’d prefer to stay downtown, Seattle
has hotels to meet every preference and budget. Please keep in mind that Swedish is just about a mile —
uphill — east of the city’s center, so it’s either a brisk walk or a short cab ride away.

The Silver Cloud Inn is ideally located just three
blocks from the Swedish Orthopedic Institute.
Both king and double queen rooms are available
with a variety of ADA-certified options. Breakfast,
lunch and dinner are available at Jimmy’s
Restaurant on the main floor of the hotel or
through room service. The hotel is equipped for
long-term stays with complimentary washer and
dryer available on each floor and a microwave
and refrigerator in every room. The hotel includes
an onsite fitness center and pool with a lift for
wheelchair users. The Silver Cloud offers shuttle
transportation every 30 minutes to Swedish, Pike
Place Market and Westlake Center. Swedish
patients can call for shuttle pick up at the hospital
when they are ready to return to the hotel. Onsite
parking is available for $19 per day.
The Marriott Springhill Suites is located just over
a mile from the Swedish Orthopedic Institute,
and blocks from the recently developed South
Lake Union neighborhood. Both king and double
rooms are available and all rooms include a sitting
area with a queen-size sleeper sofa. Additionally,
all rooms are equipped with a kitchenette that
includes a microwave and mini-refrigerator. The
Springhill Suites offers daily complimentary hot
breakfast in their restaurant and a full menu
throughout the day. A hotel shuttle is available to
the Space Needle and Westlake Center. All guests
have complimentary access to 24 Hour Fitness,
located across the street, as well as the hotel pool
and fitness center. Valet parking is available onsite
for $22 per night.
