ASSISTANT COACH JOB DESCRIPTION
Volleyball Alberta is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Assistant Coach for
their Jasper & Sylvan Lake Volleyball Camps. There are multiple positions available
during each week of Jasper & Sylvan, allowing the Assistant Coaches to work together
and share the workload.
The responsibilities of the Assistant Coach are outlined below.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:




Assist Head Coaches (practice planning, drill implementation, etc.)
Assist all Athletes (expectations, skill development, feedback, etc.)
Build relationships with each athlete
Be enthusiastic, energetic & positive
ON-COURT RESPONSIBILITIES:






Participate in skill demonstrations
Implementation of the practice plan
Drill management & execution
Assist Athletes (feedback, correction, positive reinforcement, etc.)
Monitor on-court athletes
Work with coaches in supporting the teaching & learning of skills
OFF-COURT RESPONSIBILITIES:






Practice & demonstration planning with Mentor Coach
Participate in coach debriefs
Participate in classroom sessions
Supervision of athletes (day & night)
Provide leadership & instruction to athletes
Complete athlete evaluations
Other responsibilities may be asked of the Assistant Coach by the Volleyball Alberta
Camp Directors. These may include responsibilities such as assistance during a medical
emergency, supervision, etc.
