From the Director's Corner:
“We Can Get There From Here”
We joined GATRA along with Wrentham, Franklin and Foxborough in August of 2007 and DialA-Ride came into effect. Two representatives have been invited to Norfolk on Tuesday, April 26
at 1 p.m. to address questions or concerns you have about the service. Now is the time to
complain or praise GATRA. This is one way they will find out problems and fix them.
Transportation will be available.
Our first letterboxing adventure will take place in May. The first attempt will be at Stony brook.

Friends of the Council on Aging
April - This is a good month. We finally put winter
behind us and April ushers in springtime, warmer
weather, birds are chirping, the Red Sox begin play and
it’s time to think about going fishing. The gemstone is
the diamond, and the flower the sweet pea.
We are not sure of the origin of the word April but it
may be from the Latin word aperies which means to
open. (This being the month when buds begin to open
and stuff starts to grow)
This month we have April Fools Day on the First, Good
Friday on the 22nd and Easter Sunday on the 24th.
One thing I’m sure of is that the Friends of the Council
on Aging will have a dandy meeting on the 19th and I’m
predicting it will be a real rip snorter. In fact I’ve been
told that Thelma Ravinski has been sharpening her
fingernails to better tear into me. Don’t you folks dare
miss it.

She challenged Lions to become “Knights of
the Blind in the crusade against darkness.”
From that moment on, Lions Clubs have been
actively involved in service to the blind and
visually impaired.
The Norfolk Lions Club has a current
membership of over 70 men and women who
are dedicated to the primary Lions cause: to
serve as Knights of the Blind. The Lions

In celebration of Earth Day this Year, on April 30
the Norfolk Grange is sponsoring an event that
welcomes all in the Town to participate in the
Grange’s Norfolk Clean & Green Campaign. The
focus of this year’s project once again is to
“clean” the unsightly rubbish and litter carelessly
discarded by others from the sides of the road and
public places within our community.
Participation in this event will require registration
through the Norfolk Grange. The registration
form will include the identification of individuals
or groups, the area which the group will target for
cleanup and will require the signature of the
participant agreeing that they will only bring litter
collected from town roadsides and public places
and no personal or household trash.
On the day of the event, litter will be collected
during the morning and early afternoon of April
30th and we are suggesting the bags containing
trash and recycling be dropped off at the Old
Town Hall on Main Street between 12 – 4 p.m.
that afternoon.
Rain date is May 7th
