Information about the Junior Science Examinations 2016 The examination is 1 ½ hours. Year 9: There are 3 sections in the exam-Chemistry (30 mins), Physics/light (20 mins) and Biology (40 mins) Year 10: There are 3 sections in the exam-Biology (25 mins), Chemistry (30 mins) and Physics (35 mins) The questions will be a mixture of types: short answer, longer answer where explanations are required, labelling of diagrams, filling in gaps etc. What to bring: blue or black pen, ruler and Year 10 need a calculator Revise what you have learned in Science this year: Make or fill in a revision timetable and start early. Work through the Learning Outcomes sheets for each topic to find out what you need to learn. Tick this off when you have revised each outcome. Learn the words and their meanings from the glossary/wordlist for each topic. Use the Blendspaces on Onstream for study skills ideas and for information about each of the topics studied this year. These are on the Year 9 and 10 Science pages. Use the website called eChalk- the link is on the Year 9 and 10 Science Onstream page. Use your exercise book and your Scipad to make study notes in the form of -colourful mind maps to summarise the information you have learned. - study notes containing pictures, drawings, numbered points, shapes with key points in them. -fold-its, flash cards, highlighted notes etc. Memorise your study notes by saying them out loud, reading them again, writing study notes out again (several times). Test yourself on your study notes Get someone to test you and/or rewrite your study notes from memory. Complete the revision sheets and the ‘My Little Revision Books’ that you will get in class over the next 2 weeks. Re-do any other revision sheets that you have done during the year.
