2014 40th Anniversary Celebration - Top Generation Club 2014 –
40th Anniversary Celebration
Because so many people played an important part in the Top Generation Club’s 40
years together, a celebration in honour of its 40th Anniversary was held on 28 June
2014. Current president of the club, generic Bev Whyte, opened the event by
thanking the 100-plus-people (comprised of former and current club members,
family, friends, and former and current partners) who supported the afternoon
event.
The side yard came to life with the fiddling
and step dancing talents of The McWilliams Brothers, as well as melodies by
keyboardist and flutist, Gertrude “Trudy” Letourneau, performing in front of a large
tent that provided guests relief from the sun.
Inside the recently refreshed building, visitors saw artifacts and displays of daysgone-by at the hall, enjoyed light refreshments, and opportunities to reconnect.
The Gloucester Historical Society produced
a book of memories, 40 years of Top Generation Club, to commemorate the
milestone and sold copies that day.
Special thanks to all club members past and present, our visitors and guests,
entertainers, volunteers, camera and sound system operator, donors, suppliers, the
City of Ottawa and the Gloucester Horticultural Society teams who worked
diligently to ensure the building and the yard were ready for the celebration.
