Final week
In this final edition of the year, we have a report on the Dads and Staff cricket team ‘Chinthurst Cockerels’ (page 5)
together with various reports from around and about.
Many thanks to the CPA for their wonderful Summer Ball on Saturday which was enjoyed by over 150 guests. Further
details on P.4. including the big £1000 100 Club draw. Why not join up and buy a ball?
On Monday night we welcomed back former Headmaster, Trevor Egan with his wife, Heather as Guests of Honour at
our Speech Day and Prize Giving. In a packed marquee over sixty prizes were presented along with speeches from the
Chairman, Headmaster, Mr Egan and the Head Boy. My speech will be available on the website shortly.
On Tuesday night the Senior Play took centre stage with a wonderful performance by our Y5-8 children with their rendition of ‘See How They Run’. Those that came were treated to two hours of top class comedy. Huge thanks to Messrs
Marshall and Beadle for delivering more (drama) wow.
Yesterday, the wonderful Tina and Lisa gave us our BBQ lunch before the classes enjoyed their Form Parties. Later on
the new Class Reps were handed the reins by the class of 2013-14—and many thanks to those too.
Today, we all enjoyed the Staff showing the Senior children how to play rounders (did the Headmaster really hit the
winning rounder?) whilst Nursery and the Toddler group held their annual end of year party. The term drew to a
close with the Final Assembly in the Main Hall where the House competitions results were announced together with
the House Cup result (see page 3) and the Leavers were presented with their ties and hoodies. We said our goodbyes
to the last Head Boy, Chris Smith, and announced there would be Heads of School in future with Poppy Old being selected for the Autumn Term. The termly theme next term will be ‘Remember’ taken from the centenary of the First
World War. So, as we say our goodbyes, we’ve had a brilliant end of term; next Term starts, Wed 3rd September! DW

Pre-Prep Trip to Box Hill
2
Big bears hunting,
Outstanding views,
EXcellent experience,
Hill so steep,
Insects hiding,
Lovely luscious lollies,
Log moving scarily,
Delicious snacks,
A thirsty day!
Yeh! What a day!
Pre-Prep had a fantastic time on Box Hill last Friday.
The children thoroughly enjoyed hunting for the 'Box
Hill Bear'. Some of the Year Twos claimed they had
seen him in the bushes! After a picnic lunch under the
trees, everyone had a lovely time playing on the field
by the viewpoint. At the end of the day, everyone
bought ice creams from the kiosk and ate them in the
sunshine.
All of the children were beautifully well behaved and
made excellent ambassadors for the School.

Junior Play: Joseph’s Technicolour Dream Coat
It was Wednesday 2nd July, and Year 3 and 4 were doing their play called Joseph’s Technicolour Dream Coat.
There were 31 people in the play all excited and glad to be in it. At the beginning of the play we all felt a bit
nervous but when we were on stage we forgot about being nervous and just got on with it. Everybody
laughed when we didn’t expect them to, but when people laughed at Roman we could barely hear him. The
parents whispered to each other that the costumes were so good that they couldn’t recognise some children. We were all relieved that the play went so well and our teachers thought the same so they gave us
some treats.
Thanks to Miss Saul and Mrs de Almeida for organising the play. Also thanks to the people who made the
costumes.
Zac Smith and James Hammond
On Wednesday 2nd July we did a play about Joseph. It was set in Egypt. The main character in the play was
Joseph. We felt nervous before the play. We all enjoyed ourselves, it was a very good experience and it is
definitely something I will do again. We felt really nervous and my stomach was turning, and doing somersaults inside me during the play. We thought the play went really well.
At the end of the play I felt really happy because we all did really well. The play went brilliantly. I would recommend that you tried it as a play and that you should watch it.

Year 4’s comments on Joseph’s Coat of Many Colours
I was scared nervous
and excited at the
same time.
Joshua Dixon
I felt nervous as I walked up
the stage. Ben Butterfield
I loved being the Butler and having a solo. There
are no adjectives in the English dictionary to describe
how good it was. Benjamin Webster
I was Joseph’s mother. In the play I had
almost lost my voice. Megan McLoughlin
I was Potiphar’s wife and I was
so excited, but nervous. I sang a solo
and I was very scared but I wanted to do it loads
of times. Roman Hunt-Turner
Joseph
Joseph was a great play and I was
happy with the part I got. I was Jacob.
William Raymond
.
The play was great. Roman was so
funny, but I tried not to laugh.
Sebastian Fleming-Smith
I was so excited because
the King is a very good
part to play. Oscar Over
I think the funniest part in the
play was when Potiphar’s wife was
in love with Joseph. Adam Hobbs
We practised a lot
but it was fun. Emilie Forward
The best part was when
Roman flirted with Jasper.
Harrison Mumar
I played the part of Joseph which was amazing.
I loved everything about the play.

CPA News
A big thank you to the entire Chinthurst community (parents past, present, future and staff) for being so
supportive of the CPA events this academic year. As you will hopefully know, our two aims are to provide a variety of social activities for all and to raise valuable funds to assist the school in providing extra
facilities to benefit our children. It has been a busy year and through events ranging from Christmas and
Summer Fayres, quiz and race nights, golf, tuck shops, uniform sales and of course Christmas and Summer balls, we have raised approximately £10,000 pounds.
This year these funds have been used to help all year groups in all aspects of school life. The school
staff and school council decide where this money is spent and this year it has been used for items such
as new musical instruments, cameras for Nursery and Pre-Prep, swimming equipment, outdoor clocks
and seating area for Main School and of course the beautiful marquee to host Prize Giving, which could
not take place at School otherwise.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole CPA committee (including honorary members
such as Vanessa Raymond and her team who now run the Nearly New Uniform sales) for their enthusiasm, commitment and support without which these events would not occur. Finally thank you to David
Webster and his team for a wonderful Summer Ball - every year group was represented as well as past
parents and an amazing staff turn out. I believe the photobooth will be a regular feature!
We wish everyone a happy and restful summer and look forward to seeing you all at our events for
2014-2015 which will be on the school website.
100 Club Mega draw: £1000 winner—Ball 04 - Mrs Kate Oxley!
And finally…on behalf of all the staff many, many thanks for your kind words and gifts.
With best wishes for the summer holidays,
