Major League All Star, Cy Young Award Winner and Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins
to speak in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada and THEMUSEUM
Kitchener, ON - THEMUSEUM in Downtown Kitchener and Cystic Fibrosis Canada are
teaming up to bring Canada’s only inductee in the Baseball Hall of Fame to Waterloo Region.
Fergie Jenkins, born in Chatham Ontario, will speak about his major league experience and will
take questions from the audience on the evening of Wednesday May 8 th . Mr. Jenkins will then
be available to sign autographs and pose to have his picture taken with guests. In addition, there
will be both a silent and live auction with all proceeds going to support THEMUSEUM and
Cystic Fibrosis Canada, as May is CF Awareness Month.
The event was spearheaded by local family lawyer Dave Morneau who is a dedicated baseball
fan and has a family Membership at THEMUSEUM. “This community has been good to Mr.
Morneau and his family and they wanted to give back in a fun way,” explained THEMUSEUM
CEO, David Marskell. “It is good to see such leadership and philanthropy and I sincerely thank
Dave and his family for helping to create what undoubtly will become an annual baseball themed event.”
Mike Farwell, local broadcast journalist and morning sports anchor at Sportsnet in Toronto will
emcee the evening. “Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian
children and young adults. It has directly affected my family so I’ve spent many years working
with Cystic Fibrosis Canada to raise funds to find a cure.” Farwell has not only helped shine a
light on this important issue over the years but has in fact helped raise hundreds of thousands
of dollars. Last May Farwell parachuted from an airplane to raise funds and raise awareness.
Limited VIP packages are now available which include ten tickets, signed memorabilia and dinner
with Mr. Jenkins. Single tickets will go on sale closer to the event.
