Open to all horses and ponies, the class features two courses; one Handy Hunter Derby course of 6-8 obstacles and one Jumper Speed course. Both
courses will have fences at 3’ for Hunters and 1.00m for Jumpers with 2 high option fences of 3’3” for Hunters and 1.05m for Jumpers. The Handy Hunter
Derby round will include some natural fences, at least one trot fence and bending line and will be judged on performance, hunter pace, style, quality and
handiness. The Jumper round will consist of a minimum of 8 jumps with a minimum of one combination and will be judged as Table II.1 (speed class).
The class will start with the Hunter course in the Parkside Stables Grand Hunter Ring. Upon completion, riders must walk on a designated path to the
Jumper course in the Sundance Equestrian Grand Jumper Ring. Riders MUST stay mounted and MUST walk from one ring to the other with no interaction. Upon entering Jumper Ring, horse and rider will have 5 seconds before the starting whistle. Once the whistle is blown, horse and rider must cross
the start line within the time allowed, or will be assessed time penalties. A total of 2 refusals will constitute elimination. Points will be assigned to both
Hunter and Jumper rounds and added together to determine the winner. Horse and rider must be present to ride for ribbons. Hunter or jumper tack
and attire acceptable. Boots are optional.
