COLS 2017 – Staff Applications Junior Leaders / Logistics Submission Date: Dear Applicant, Thank you for taking an interest in the 2017 Central Ontario Leadership Seminar. Please read this page prior to proceeding further with this application as it contains important information about the application process. What is COLS? COLS is a leadership seminar that takes place over three outstanding days. It focuses on empowering and inspiring Grade 10 “ambassadors” representing schools all over Central Ontario. One Grade 10 student is invited from each high school to attend. Ambassadors take part in team building exercises, a volunteer project, hear keynote speakers and discussion panels, and so much more! Important Dates Staff at the 2017 seminar are mandated to attend all of the following dates in their entirety. Please note the times are approximate and may be changed. No absences will be approved except circumstances beyond the applicant’s control such as serious illness or family emergency. Staff Training – Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Seminar – Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 Police Checks If you will be 18 years of age or older by Saturday, May 13, 2017 you will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Services (VSS) police check by the start of staff training day on Saturday, May 13, 2017. COLS will reimburse all police checks for staff so long as there is an accompanying receipt. Application Steps This year we are asking individuals to complete an application for either Junior Leader or Logistics positions. You are also welcome to apply to both positions at the same time. However, you will be required to fill in both applications and submit them to the appropriate directors. 1 Junior Leader Team As a Junior Leader (JL), you will be facilitating a COLS Three-Day group alongside your Senior Leader. You are required to actively engage with ambassadors, promote positivity, and support their learning and growth. You are taking on a role of mentorship and community building within the COLS family and are the heart of the conference. We will be accepting 12 Junior Leaders to be paired with 12 Senior Leaders. Remember, you are there for the ambassadors and to ensure that they have the best COLS experience possible. Logistics Team The logistics team makes sure that the weekend runs smoothly and on time. We do this by working behind the scenes, setting up for events in advance, putting everything together and cleaning it up. We are an integral part of the seminar, as we assist everyone with everything! Each year we accept between 4-6 logistics team members. Anyone may apply to be on the logistics team! I have reviewed the information portion of this application package and completed all necessary fields. This application is being submitted before the deadline of January 30, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. I understand that late submissions will not be reviewed. I understand that if I am accepted as staff for the 2017 seminar that I must attend both staff training (May 13, 2017) and the seminar from the evening of May 25, 2017 to the evening of May 28, 2017. I confirm that I am available on all of these dates. I further understand that if I cannot attend these dates, miss these dates, or leave early during these dates for circumstances in my control, that I will not be considered staff for at least one year after COLS 2017.
