TOWN OF THE BLUE MOUNTAINS
NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
TO CONSIDER THE ONE-WAY OF CLAIRE GLEN
TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains will be considering a
By-law to designate a portion of Claire Glen one-way only during the winter ski season.
AND THAT the Committee of the Whole of Council of The Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains will
hold a PUBLIC MEETING in the TOWN HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 32 MILL STREET, THORNBURY,
ONTARIO, COMMENCING 7:00 P.M. ON THE 14th DAY OF JULY, 2014 for the purpose of considering a Bylaw to One Way a portion of Claire Glen.
The Town of The Blue Mountains has an active application for Site Plan Approval submitted by Blue Mountain
Resorts that proposes to improve two parking lots (known as Parking Lot 1B and 1C – See attached sketch)
adjacent to the new Orchards Ski Area, east of Grey Road 119 (Scenic Caves Road) and south of the existing
round-a-bout. Concerns have been raised regarding the potential increase in traffic to the parking areas from
Grey Road 19 through Claire Glen. Blue Mountain Resorts has proposed signage throughout the parking lots
directing traffic to the County Roads only, and in addition it is suggested by the Town and County that making
Claire Glen one way only during the ski season (December 1st to March 31st) would minimize traffic conflicts.
The section of Claire Glen to be designated one way only is located between the intersection of Blue Mountain
Road and Claire Glen, northbound to the intersection of Grey Road 19 and Claire Glen. (See attached sketch)
The effect of this By-law is to designate Claire Glen one-way only northbound from the intersection of Blue
Mountain Road and Claire Glen to the intersection of Grey Road 19 and Claire Glen from December 1 to
March 31.
The subject lands of this By-law are owned by the Town of The Blue Mountains.
It is requested that comments be submitted to the Town prior to the public meeting so that comments can be
read at the public meeting for the benefit of the Council, Staff and the Public.
