The Sunbury Junior Jets Coaches and Assistant Coaches
Vacancies for the 2017 Championship Season
The Sunbury Jets Basketball Association is seeking interest from Coaches with prior
experience coaching basketball to fill key coaching roles within our Junior Jets Program for
the 2016 – 2017 season.
Vacancies exist in all age groups and across all levels of Basketball in both our boys and girls
programs’. We are looking for experienced coaches who wish to become an integral part of
the Junior Jets Program.
In addition to vacancies for experienced representative coaches we are also seeking Assistant
Coaches for all teams; this role is regarded as a development role and would suit applicants
with limited coaching experience and a desire to improve their coaching skills under some of
the best coaches in the association.
The aim of the Junior Jets Program is to promote the game of basketball within our
community and to develop players to compete at the highest level.
Coaching positions involve a commitment to Friday night games, Sunday training and mid
week training (for some teams) during the VJBL season. Teams may also play in the Bendigo
and Ballarat tournaments during the season.
Expectations of all interested coaches are as follows:
o All coaches MUST hold or be willing to complete a National Accreditation Scheme
coach’s course prior to the start of the VJBL season.
o Adhere to the Basketball Victoria Coaches Code of Conduct
o Complete a Working with Children (WWC) Form and a VJBL Statutory Declaration Form
o Assist at the Sunbury Jets representative trials in various age groups and work with
fellow Sunbury Jets coaches in selecting the final teams.
o All Coaches will be highly organised, be willing to work as a team and possess the
ability to teach basketball at the appropriate level.
o Must attend domestic games and finals to encourage indentified players to come
and try out.
o Must attend ALL Coaches Meetings and Development opportunities as requested by
the SBA.
o Work under the guidelines and expectations of the SBA and Junior Development

SBA Junior Jets committee.
