Actions for Residents on hearing the Major Incident Alarm at PPG Stowmarket Manufacturing Site The Major Incident Alarm is a continuous siren lasting for two minutes; the siren repeats three times, at ten minute intervals, during the first thirty minutes of a Major Incident. If you hear this siren: (Please note: a short 15 second siren test will sound mid-day on Fridays. Please ignore this test) GO INDOORS…. • Go Indoors, bring domestic pets in with you. • Close external doors and windows and turn off ventilation systems to keep out any potential fumes or smoke. • Extinguish all naked flames. STAY INDOORS AND STAY SAFE…. • If possible, stay in a downstairs room facing away from the PPG facility, draw the curtains and stay away from the windows.
