Bellevue – Patrick Duffy of Omaha climbed up the leaderboard to win the 18th Nebraska Mid-Amateur
Championship, his second title in five years, at Platteview Golf Club on Sunday.
Duffy posted one of two under-par rounds during the final round, shooting a 71 (-1) to win by three
strokes with a 145 (+1) total. Duffy rolled in three birdies and avoided the trouble that the rest of the
leaders were finding, making just two bogeys on the day. After a front nine 36 (E), Duffy birdied Nos. 12
and 15 to take the lead and cruised in with pars to win his second title. Duffy also won the 2012 Nebraska Mid-Amateur, and is the third player to win twice, joining Elkhorn’s Ryan Nietfeldt (2001, 2013) and
Lincoln’s Travis Minzel (2010, 2011).
Kearney’s Andrew Sajevic matched Duffy’s low round of the day, 71 (-1), to finish as the runner-up,
three strokes back at 148 (+4). First round leader Joey Baldwin of Wayne fell back with a final round 78
(+6) to finish in a tie for third with Omaha’s Cole Grandfield at 149 (+5).
