Course Learning Outcomes
Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be proficient in the following:
1. Summarize what hair is, the chief composition of hair, division of hair, facts relating to hair
structure, growth and distribution.
2. Summarize basic scalp care and list the scalp and hair disorders commonly seen in the salon and
school and know which can be treated there.
3. List the basic techniques, for cutting with scissors or with a razor.
4. List the basic elements and techniques of hairstyling.
5. Describe permanent waving, chemical relaxing and hair coloring.
6. Identify the chemistry, techniques, purposes, safety precautions and principles of salon chemicals.

the course, the student being reported to the Dean of General Education and/or a report of the event being

Course Policies and Procedures
Correspondence Policy YOU CAN USE E-MAIL to correspond with students IF you are BOTH using the ASUN e-mail
accounts. We have a secure server and our e-mails are username/password protected. You SHOULD use the ASUN email to discuss grades and student progress because it gives you a secure, written record of correspondence. I

Attendance Policy
A student accumulating 60 hours of absence from class/lab will be automatically placed on probation. A
student who accumulates more than 72 hours of absence may be terminated from the program at the end of that
semester or summer term. Students must have logged in 1500 hours of class and lab time to graduate. Students
are responsible for meeting the clock hour criteria during regularly scheduled classes.
