Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego The University of Warsaw computer scientists among winners of an international competition Computer science team from the University of Warsaw won the Cup of the Head of the Republic of Karelia Programming Contest. Competition took place during a training camp in the capital of the region - Petrozavodsk. In the overall classification for the entire camp, the Warsaw University team took second place. According to the University of Warsaw spokeswoman Anna Korzekwa, the members of the winning team were: Tomasz Kulczyński, Jakub Pachocki, Wojciech Śmietanka. The camp was attended by 51 teams representing 28 universities and colleges, including 10 from outside the Russian Federation. "For many teams the training camp was an important step in preparations for the World Finals of the ACM-ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest, which will be held in Warsaw on 14-18 May 2012. Odds in this contest are on teams from Russia and the University of Warsaw" - explained the University of Warsaw spokeswoman. The decision to grant the University of Warsaw the right to host the the University of Warsaw was announced in May last year. The ICPC management appreciated the previous success of the university teams in the competition, particularly twice won world championship (in 2003 in Beverly Hills and in 2007 in Tokyo).
