NEWS RELEASE The Atlantic Affiliate is proud to announce that USA Hockey and the Philadelphia Flyers have teamed up to host the All-American Prospects game on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA! "This event provides some of the best U.S. players eligible for next year's NHL Draft the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage," said Jim Johannson, USA Hockey's assistant executive director of hockey operations. "With input from NHL Central Scouting, this game will feature future stars of the NHL and we're thrilled to be working with the Philadelphia Flyers to host this game as part of their 50th anniversary." We are pleased to say that with this event being held, the Atlantic Affiliate is able to take part in various events to be held leading up to the game and hope that you will join us for this wonderful experience! We will start off on Wednesday, September 21 at the Wells Fargo Center with a USA Hockey/Philadelphia Flyers Coaching Symposium! This event will provide amateur hockey coaches, Mite through College, with the opportunity to learn advanced coaching techniques from some of the brightest minds in the sport! Featured presenters from the Flyers and USA Hockey coaching staffs, including: Ian Laperriere, Joe Mullen, Guy Gadowsky (Head Coach for Penn State Mens Hockey), Roger Grillo (USA Hockey), Phil Osaer (USA Hockey), Rich Hanson (USA Hockey). Advanced registration is required. Registration will begin at 5:00 PM with the night ending around 10:00 PM. For coaches who are looking for their Level 1, 2, or 3 CEP accreditation, the price is $65, which includes one admission to the Coaching Symposium and two (2) tickets to the USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game the following day on September 22. The Atlantic District will be hosting its own FUTURES PROSPECTS GAME. Our Futures Game will include the top 1998-2001 born players in the Atlantic District as chosen by the Player Development Staff. By virtue of their participation and performance in the Player Development Program, players have been offered a roster spot on one of the two teams who will play at the Wells Fargo Center at 3:00pm on Thursday, September 22, 2016 prior to the USA Hockey All American Prospects game. In addition to the game, the two teams will practice on Wednesday, September 21st at 7:00pm – also at the Wells Fargo Center. The practice will be managed by the USA HOCKEY National Staff, and will serve as the on-ice portion of a High Performance Coaching Symposium, which will be taking place simultaneously at the WFC, again as part of a larger event co-sponsored by the Philadelphia Flyers, USA HOCKEY, and the Atlantic District. We have not announced names as of yet, but the two Head Coaches for the teams will be from NHL &/or NCAA Division 1. The practice, game, ticket to the Prospects game, and uniform come at no cost to the player. The final event will be the Prospects Game itself! Each year the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game assembles the top U.S. players who are eligible for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. Following last year’s game, 25 players that participated in the contest went on to be chosen in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, including a record 10 first-round selections. Among the 24 forwards named are Casey Mittelstadt (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Kailer Yamamoto (Spokane, Wash.), who helped the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team capture the bronze medal at the 2016 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's Under-18 World Championship in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In August, Sasha Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.), Mark Kastelic (Phoenix, Ariz.), Vanya Lodnia (Novi, Mich.), Brannon McManus (Newport Beach, Calif.), Mick Messner (Madison, Wis.), Matt Miller (Leo, Ind.), Michael Pastujov(Bradenton, Fla.), Ryan Poehling (Lakeville, Minn.) and Austin Pratt (Lakeville, Minn.) all helped the U.S. Under-18 Select Team place second at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia. The blue line corps includes Luke Martin (St. Louis, Mo.), who joined Mittelstadt and Yamamoto on the bronze medal-winning 2016 U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team, and seven defensemen from the 2016 U.S. Under-18 Select Team, including Mike Anderson (Roseville, Mich.), Ron Brickey (Burtchville, Mich.), Tyler Inamoto (Lake Barrington, Ill.), Tom Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.), Ben Mirageas (Newburyport, Mass.), Clayton Phillips (Edina, Minn.), and Reilly Walsh (Andover, N.H.). In net, three of the goaltenders have represented the United States internationally, including Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.), who skated on two U.S. Men's National Under-18 Teams (2015 - gold; 2016 - bronze) and Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Cayden Primeau (Voorhees, N.J.), who served as the netminding duo for the 2016 U.S. Under-18 Select Team.
