DG SANCO (Luxembourg)
• There will be money for cancer and the allocation of those
funds will be on the basis of ''equal opportunity for all'' who
apply
• In December, the DG SANCO Work plan 2013 should be
adopted (details still confidential)
• A new Joint Action on Cancer will come into being from
2014
• Regarding the Multi-Annual planning, DG SANCO still
doesn't know the timing and the amount of money to be
allocated
• Past call : 8 December 2011 - 9 March 2012

DG RESEARCH (Bruxelles)
• A budget of €8.5billion is proposed for the ''Health,
Demographic Change and Wellbeing'' theme of Horizon
2020. This makes it the largest of Horizon 2020's social
challenges
• EU funding for research and innovation will be unified
into one programme
• The steps and procedures to apply (red tape) needed
for organisations to apply and to access RTD funding,
and to start the project, will be greatly simplified
• Next call: inside information for March
What do we mean by
Scientific Consortium?
• Group of researchers deciding to work together with a
common protocol of data collection
• Each researcher (or group of researchers)
independently find national funds to subsidize data
collection
• Funds for meetings, common database and common
analysis should be found (with national or international
sources)
• Similarly to the EUROCARE organisation
