ADMISSION OF NONRESIDENT STUDENTS
The Board of Education affirms that its primary responsibility is to provide the best possible educational
opportunities for the children who are legal District residents and who are of legal age to attend school.
However, a non-resident student may be admitted to District Schools upon payment to the District of the
Board-adopted tuition charge, if and only if, in the judgment of the Superintendent of Schools:
1.
2.
3.
4.
There is sufficient space to accommodate the non-resident student;
No increase in the size of faculty or staff will be necessary to accommodate them;
The non-resident student meets the District's criteria for admission; and
The admission of such non-resident student during the enrollment period to be in the best
interest of the District.
The Superintendent or designee shall review each application on a case-by-case basis to determine whether
the student shall be admitted to attendance to the District.
As a condition of admission of a nonresident student, said admission may be revoked at any time for
noncompliance with school rules, regulations, or for failure to pay the required fees and expenses.
Students will not be admitted if there is insufficient space in a class or program. Once admitted to the class or
program, the student may remain for the remainder of the school year unless one of the other conditions
(discipline or non-payment) is present.
Future Residents
The children of families who can produce a signed contract to buy or build a residence in the School District
may be enrolled during the semester in which they expect to become residents, without payment of tuition.
Proof of residence is required once the residence is occupied.
Tuition
Parents of any non-resident student granted admission are responsible to pay annual tuition. Administrative
regulations will govern the implementation of the tuition charges.
Tuition will be billed in ten equal monthly payments, due by the first day of the month, beginning in September.
Charges will be based on the prior year tuition rate set by New York State. This rate will be adjusted when the State sets
the rate for the 2015-16 school year (usually published in January).
Procedure
Admission of attendance to the District for non-resident students shall be, limited to a school year and
requires application on an annual basis. Administrative regulations shall provide for attendance by resident
students who move and become non-residents and allow those students to complete the academic year
tuition free provided that transportation shall be the responsibility of the student or parent .
