They are the point of contact for any concerns that you might have in regard to an injury with your athlete. If you suspect an injury or have concern PLEASE consult with them before taking them to the doctor. Most physicians are not trained in sports medicine or sports injury, and most often the result is missed time that is not necessary and with no return to play protocol or information of treatment of injury. If our trainers suspect that they need to go to a doctor, they will give them information on the correct physician to see and help set up a visit. Again this is their first priority, so please respect the job that they have and keep them in the loop. Each athlete MUST have a yearly physical, and fill out the appropriate information online before participating in athletics. It is NEVER a good way to start the season missing practice because they didn’t get a physical or fill out the online paperwork during the 2 months of summer! Physical Forms can be found Online or in the Athletic Training office. Parents: You will need to navigate to the LISD website www.leanderisd.org to complete and sign the following forms for your child to participate in athletics: - LISD Handbook and UIL Steroid Form - Parent Consent and UIL Eligibility Form - UIL Concussion Form - UIL Cardiac Awareness Form Once you are at the website, www.leanderisd.org: - Click on Departments, then - Click on Athletics Department, to the right you will see FORMS - Click on Submit Forms Online - Follow the Instructions to complete and sign the forms electronically You must also complete the Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Medical History form (Left Side) on the back side of the Physical form and then take the form to your doctor to have the Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation-Physical Exam (Right Side) completed by that doctor. Once both sides of the Physical Form are completed please have your athlete turn it in to the Athletic Trainers for the high school or their coach. 7 on 7 J.H. 7 on 7 Spring League will happen in May, TBA (NO COST) H.S. 7 on 7- May 30th, June 6th, June 13th, and June 20th @ CPHS Schedule to be posted (NO COST) Strength and Conditioning- Monday thru Thursday, 7:00-9:00 A.M. for the High School, 9:00- 11:00 A.M. for the Junior High. If so Why? What will be a successful season for me as a parent? What are my goals for them? What do I hope they gain from the experience? What do I think their role will be on this team? Parents, remember your answers then ask your son the following. As he answers just listen. Why are you playing? What is a successful season? What goals do you have? What do you think your role will be on the team? Once you have heard your son’s answers and compared them to your own, if both sets of expectations are the same, GREAT. However, if your response is different, you need to change your attitude and accept the response of your son as your own belief. No Questions! If you do not change your expectation, trouble can begin for your athlete. The resulting pressure, that will undoubtedly arise, will not help your player’s performance or make the season enjoyable for anyone involved. Only one guarantee exists during a normal athletic season: it will not be “Perfect”. Even without disagreements between parents, players, and coaches, problems will always occur with relationships, playing time, individual and team success. However, it is essential that both players and parents have a mutual perspective on everyone’s expectations concerning your son’s athletic experience. It should always be about the TEAM! Attend as many games and events as possible Do everything possible to make the athletic experience positive for your son and others View the game with TEAM GOALS in mind Attempt to relieve competitive pressure, not increase it Encourage MULTIPLE SPORT PARTICIPATION Release your son to the coach and the team (TRUST) Accept the judgement of officials and coaches, remain in control Accept the results of the game, do not make excuses Demonstrate winning and losing with dignity Dignify mistakes made by athletes who are giving their best effort and concentration Be an encourager, encourage athletes to keep their perspective in both victory and defeat. Be a good listener Accept the goals, roles and achievements of your son Play the game for fun, the LOVE of the game and of competition Be gracious in victory and graceful in defeat Respect the game Put the TEAM ahead of yourself in every situation Accept decisions made by those in authority (Officials, Coaches) Demonstrate respect to your opponent, coaches and teammates Be accountable for your own actions Develop a teachable spirit that allows you to take correction as a compliment Accept and embrace the discipline involved in athletics, because it benefits the team and yourself Develop the feeling of pride, based upon “shared joy” of the team, and do not have pride that emanates from arrogance or a sense of entitlement Be an athlete of character Coach for the love of the game, and the love of the athlete Put the welfare of your athletes above winning Accept and abide by the judgement of the officials, play within the spirit of the game Reward effort and behavior instead of outcome Give dignity to mistakes made with full speed and attention Lead with character and by example Put the needs of the team ahead of any individual Constantly work to improve your knowledge and ability to teach the game and the athletes Be willing to confront incorrect behavior or less than all out effort ENCOURAGE MULTIPLE SPORT participation Keep the game fun Be willing to work with parents for the benefit of the athletes Develop a positive demanding coaching style Be a model, not a critic; model appropriate behavior, poise, and confidence Practice 10- May 17th- PM Practice 11- May 18th- PM Practice 12- May 19th- Scrimmage during Athletic Period Practice 13- May 23rd- AM Practice 14- May 24th- PM Practice 15- May 25th- PM Practice 16- May 26th- SPRING GAME AT CPHS IN THE EVENING (TIME TBA) WE WILL HAVE A KIDS CAMP 8TH GRADE 7 ON 7 SCRIMMAGE JUNIOR VARSITY SCRIMMAGE VARSITY SCRIMMAGE Spring Purchases Replace bottoms on Pop Ups $380 Bosu Balls- $1709.34 Tony Franklin Clinic $1000 2 Man Sled- $3709 $1995 Demon Sleds- $3228.30 Travel Boxes $925 Blaster Arms- $450 Game Ready Rehab Unit $2025 High and Tight Trainer $475 Re Upholster Plyo Boxes $375 Tackle Circle $375 Varsity Uniform $16048 Replace Wheels for chute $328 Freshmen Uniform $9400 New Pop Up $450 Total Expenditure $43262.14 Portable Training Table These purchases only represent what we have done during the spring, it is impossible to run a program like ours depending only on the school budget.
