As a result of adopting telecom
services from cereno, Inmarsat is
saving up to 70% on ISDN calls.
As a world leader in global mobile satellite communications,
Inmarsat is constantly trying to reduce operating costs whilst
maintaining its reputation for reliable service. In July 2005 the
organisation transferred the majority of its ISDN services from
British Telecom to cereno.
Inmarsat now uses cereno to handle its ISDN calls for video and
data (back-up for its extensive leased line network). The
organisations video network is shared between corporate staff and
Inmarsat’s public conferencing facility, with the majority of calls
being made to other major city locations.
The data set up is a WAN of point to point leased lines, with cereno
providing ISDN2 services as an alternative network should Inmarsat
suffer any major outages on its leased lines. Over this network calls
can be in progress on a local basis and from as far afield as China,
Australia and USA.
As specialists in line installation and Optimum Quality Routing for
ISDN circuits, cereno is ideally placed to combine lower costs with
improved service for video conferencing and voice services.
Inmarsat also takes advantage of cereno’s advanced billing services,
which is a powerful way of managing voice and data costs. Billing can
be delivered on paper, via email or through an online web portal, with
voice and data separation as required. Additional analysis tools are
available that allow for the accurate monitoring of telecom usage and
spend.
“For us it is essential to have an instantly reliable carrier.
When a leased line fails we need to know that ISDN will
work immediately. The loading on our cereno ISDN
circuits can go from nil traffic to fully loaded in an instant.
When an ISDN circuit is operational, it could be ‘up’ for 24
hours or more passing mission critical data. I am pleased
to say that the quality and integrity of the cereno
network has proved excellent to date.”
“Since adopting cereno and consolidating our ISDN lines,
we have experienced significant cost savings. In the most
extreme case, some 70% savings have been made on
ISDN call charges which has exceeded any of my
expectations.”
“Anyone who has worked in Telecoms knows that the
admin workload can be the biggest challenge. cereno’s
advanced billing system has proved invaluable to
controlling our costs and simplifies the payment with one
detailed bill covering all services”
