SUMP updating process: a cultural thing 35 University of Piraeus Transport Systems Laboratory Lessons learned from running a large scale mobility survey, do’s don’t’s and must do’s We approached the most dynamic part (age-wise) of the topical society, 30-39, 40-49 & 50-59 We decided to approach them mainly through schools, • We had a return rate >80% of questionnaires disseminated • Pupils tend to be rather “persuasive” towards their parents • Can we use this “persuasion technique”? There were a lot of feedback from respondents One of the best feedback channels by far: honest, real, direct Careful design, careful implementation and some training is recommended 36 University of Piraeus Transport Systems Laboratory The current mobility situation in the city of AGANK Sustainable Mobility Actions in the municipality Primary results of a large scale mobility survey Lessons learned from running a large scale mobility survey, do’s don’t’s and must do’s Insight: how has behavior changed post crisis? SUMP updating process: a cultural thing 39 University of Piraeus Transport Systems Laboratory SUMP updating process: a cultural thing As part of the SUMP continuous improvement process a number of initiatives have been considered. The main objectives include: • Smart solutions • Increasing the mobility of the citizens, • Improving the safety of the pedestrians, especially the pupils, and • Increasing the mobility satisfaction. These initiatives are easily understandable and implementable in other city contexts. The lessons learned from running a large scale mobility survey, the do’s don’t’s and must do’s will be important lessons taken back by the city executives. More Sustainable Urban Moblity projects are following up • Citymobilnet is building the capacities of municipal technicians and also politicians! 40 Transport Systems Laboratory University of Piraeus More Information?
