your captain, pull together the best team possible and help get the most out of them in matches.
You’ll be a figure of respect and inspiration to your team and more players will join as a result of
the club’s success. Remember it’s not always about the players winning – sometimes it’s about
them doing their best or even improving on their personal bests. The best team managers make
training and playing fun and exciting and ensure good team morale. This approach leads to longterm success by retaining and developing players for longer.
Ideally, you’ll need to be:

your captain, players and coaches where appropriate
Manage the team on match days

or website, liaising with the club Webmaster

Assist with any other duties that are necessary to support your team
How much time might it take?
This role in most cases will take about 6 hours per week during peak season, during evenings and
weekends. It may seem like a big commitment but clubs can and should have a range of team
managers, and you are playing a key role in the organisation and success of your club.
What you should get out of it:
As much as you put in! The influence you have in supporting your captain and on your team
makes this an extremely rewarding and stimulating role.
Benefits of volunteering:
To learn new and develop existing skills through hands on experience
Personal and professional development, particularly to do with organisation and working
with people
The ability to explore different sorts of career or job opportunities in a voluntary capacity
A chance to get out, have fun and meet some new people – enjoying the traditional social
life that cricket clubs generate
Experiencing new challenges
Supporting your local community – putting something back into your community, personal
satisfaction knowing you have helped others
Possibility of a written/verbal reference
A brilliant CV booster
