JENNY BOUCEK NAMES COACHING STAFF
First-Year Storm Head Coach Names Staff with Emphasis on Player Development
SEATTLE – Storm head coach Jenny Boucek has named Rob Fodor and Ryan Webb as assistant coaches, the
franchise announced today. In addition to Fodor and Webb, Susan Borchardt returns to oversee sports
performance and Tom Spencer enters his eighth season as athletic trainer.
“Rob is a multi-dimensional coaching talent who has worked with brilliant basketball minds all over the
world,” said Boucek. “He is a passionate and creative teacher who specializes in bringing out the best in
players and teams.”
With over 25 years of player development and coaching experience, Fodor has spent the majority of his
basketball career dedicated to all aspects of player development. He spent the last 12 years acting as a
player development consultant for head coach Erik Spoelstra, where he equipped his staff with a new
player development system that his team currently uses. In the past year, Fodor was appointed shooting
director of the Erik Spoelstra Basketball Academy.
“Rob has been a confidant and unofficial consultant of mine for many years,” said Spoelstra. “He has a
unique and innovative approach to teaching the game and his basketball IQ is right up there with anyone in
this profession. Rob has a special gift with player development and his attention to detail makes him a
unique talent.”
Fodor’s player development resume boasts numerous individual NBA greats, including Tim Hardaway, Glen
Rice, Alonzo Mourning, Raja Bell and Darius Miles. He also conducted player development consulting with
the coaching staffs at the University of Virginia, University of Portland and Utah State.
“It is a privilege to be part of the Storm family,” said Fodor. “I am excited to work with Jenny Boucek and
dedicated to bringing enthusiasm and a unique perspective to help return the Storm to championship
caliber play.”
A four-year starter at Hillsdale College in Michigan, Fodor inked professional contracts in France, Germany
and South America following his collegiate career.
Webb is coming off a 2014 Storm season where he served as the team’s player development coach. His
responsibilities included pre-practice and off-day one on one workouts, coordination with the strength and
conditioning coach on implementation of creative drills and providing assistance with scouting reports. From
2003-13, Webb was a constant at Storm practices, working his way up as a veteran practice player. He was
named a coaching intern during the 2012 season, working with former Storm head coach Brian Agler and
then-assistant coaches Boucek and Nancy Darsch throughout that year.
“Ryan is an up and coming star in the coaching ranks,” said Boucek. “His intuition for the game and for
people is something that cannot be taught.”
As a DI player at Seattle University from 2002-07, Webb was named the 2007 Athlete of the Year following a
20-9 season and a league championship.
Susan Borchardt enters her third season as the team’s sports performance coach. She is responsible for all
aspects of player performance enhancement, including nutrition, sleeping habits and pre-practice training
sessions.
Prior to Seattle, Borchardt was at Stanford University from 2011-12 as the team’s intercollegiate athletic
development specialist. Borchardt served as assistant coach and strength and conditioning specialist for CB
Baloncesto Granada’s Liga EBA team based in Granada, Spain, from 2006-09. She directed player skill
development work with the club’s EBA players while also working individually with select ACB players. She
interned with the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) World Headquarters in Colorado
Springs, Colo., helping develop appropriate summer workout plans for elite-level athletes.
Borchardt played for Stanford from 2000-05, helping lead the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances
and a pair of regional final berths (2004-05). She then played professionally for the Minnesota Lynx during the
2005 WNBA season. A native of Richfield, Minn., Borchardt earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in
2005. She would go on to earn her master’s degree in exercise science from California University of
Pennsylvania in 2010. Borchardt holds several certifications, including the Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES) and Specialist in Performance
Nutrition (ISSA-SPN).
The 2015 season marks the eighth for head athletic trainer Tom Spencer. Owner of Peak Sports and Spine
Physical Therapy, Spencer graduated from Central Washington University in 1990 with a degree in sports
medicine and adaptive physical education. From 1989-1999, Spencer worked for the Cincinnati Reds as a
Head Minor League Athletic Trainer at many different levels from rookie-ball to Double A.
Preston Fawcett enters his second season with the Storm, overseeing basketball operations. Fawcett
manages player and staff logistics and team travel. Leah Drury begins her first season with the franchise,
managing all team equipment and video needs. She previously held a head coaching position with
Pensacola State College from 2012-14, and was an assistant coach at Alabama, her alma mater, from 201012. A 2006 graduate of Alabama, Drury competed for the Crimson Tide from 2002-06.
Seattle opens the 2015 season on June 6 vs. Los Angeles. Storm 360 Memberships, starting at $179, are still
