Well here we are transitioning from summer to the fall and winter season, and we are in the midst of
such nice summer weather that it does seem strange to think about the changes that will be coming
soon. We have already started to see the evening come sooner and our long days are no longer here.
With that being said, we will not likely be spending as much time outside in the yard or on our decks.
Now our focus will shift to what we will be doing inside as our season changes.
Have we got a deal for you, your family, your neighbours and even your friends!! We have created the
FREE Family Game Night Activity Kit.
These will work very similar to our Neighbourhood Activity Kits that can be used for free during the
summer months only the new kits will be the fall/ winter counterpart.
We have placed lots of fun board games together with all the pieces, all directions and you can call or
email and pick them up to take home and have your version of Family Game Night.
The idea behind these Crime Prevention Family Game Night Activity Kits came from one of our
committees to address family disconnectedness. It has been proven time and again that families who
spend time together, who interact in a playful manner can also withstand and hold together when faced
with difficult challenges.
We can develop deeper relationships, and sometimes solve issues before they even happen by spending
quality time with our kids. As parents, we sometimes believe that as our children become young teens
and adults, that they no longer require our parenting as much as their younger siblings. This is incorrect;
they need us even more to guide them through life challenges and decisions. If we spend fun time with
them, they may feel more confident in approaching us to help solve other issues they face.
By having a Game Night weekly, bi weekly, monthly or whatever your family schedule allows you can
maintain conversation regarding life itself with your kids and spouses alike. You may even want to invite
some of their friends who need the comfort of family interaction. Although you may not be their parent,
you may still be the voice of wisdom and reason that they can receive help from. Something as simple as
sitting around your table playing a game can make a huge difference to those who do not have that
connection with their own family.
No matter whom you share this time with, whether it is a few neighbours, friends or other families, the
time is very important. It is worthwhile and it can make a difference to all who participate.
