Brooks Sports Launching Limited Edition Racing Shoe to
Benefit The Blazeman Foundation
T7 Racer to Honor Triple Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington,
Raise Funds to Fight ALS
Bob and I arrived in Kona and are delighted to share our first bit of exciting news! I am
pleased to tell you about something that's been brewing for a while now. Leading
running company Brooks Sports, Inc just announced yesterday that it will release early a
limited edition run of its popular road racing flat, the T7 Racer, to honor world renowned
triathlete and reigning Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington.
Brooks created the limited edition shoe exclusively for Wellington, originally from the UK,
to wear in the Ford Ironman World Championship this Saturday! Nearly four full months
in advance of the regular T7 Racer's debut, today friends of the Blazeman Foundation
can visit this link to purchase one of only 200 pairs of the limited edition shoe. The limited edition T7
Racer will retail for $85, and Brooks will donate $25 for each pair sold to the Blazeman Foundation for
ALS, a charity close to Wellington's heart.
The features of this shoe are also pretty exciting, too! Built on Brooks' Curved Platform, the ultra
lightweight, ultra flexible T7 Racer features a streamlined, asymmetrical upper that wraps the arch
securely from start to finish. The "Wellington" limited edition also includes:
· Convenient loops on tongue and heel for easy transition from bike to run
· The British flag depicted on the heel counter
· "War on ALS" inscription on heel area overlay
· Sockliner with special message to Chrissie
All eyes are on Wellington to bring home the champion title for the fourth consecutive year at the ultimate
Ironman competition in Kona, Hawaii. One of the biggest challenges in worldwide sport, the defining race
includes a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and 26.2-mile marathon run. Wellington holds the current
women's course record of 8:54:02.
"On and off the course, Chrissie Wellington continues to be an inspiration to all. The availability of the
limited edition T7 Racers gives Chrissie's fans a chance to own her go-to competition shoe before the
regular model hits the market, and support a great cause in the process," said Jesse Williams, sports
marketing manager at Brooks. "We're proud to have an athlete of her caliber representing our brand, and
we look forward to cheering her on in Kona."
"The T7 Racer is an amazing shoe!" said Wellington. "I love the way Brooks modified it to suit my specific
needs, and that they've created a promotion around this shoe that supports a cause that's important to
me."
Brooks will offer various sizes of the limited edition T7 Racer, a unisex competition shoe. Men should
order their regular racing flat shoe size, while women should trend about 1.5 sizes smaller than their
regular women's racing flat shoe size. Sales available on a first come, first served basis.
"Chrissie has been a wonderful ambassador for the sport and for the Blazeman Foundation. We are very
appreciative of the role she and Brooks are playing to help fight the War on ALS," said Mary Ann Blais,
mother of the late Jon "Blazeman" Blais. "Jon was a great son, teacher, and athlete who faced ALS with
courage and determination to help make a difference for those who follow. He would be so proud and
thrilled with your support."
While Wellington has trained and competed in Brooks shoes for several years, she chose to name Brooks
her official performance running shoe brand in January 2010. She is the first triathlete to join Brooks' elite
group of professional athletes.
