Dear Chess Parents and Players
Please note the following important information below for 2016.
JUNIOR (U8 – U20) TOURNAMENT FEES / SCHEDULE:
The tournament entry fees for 2016 has increased to R65.00 for players in the U8 – U20 division.
This fee will include 1 X Notation book for players playing in the A division. (Players in the B division will
not need to notate). Pens / pencils will be on loan for the duration of the tournament, however need to be
returned when handing in their results after the final round.
ALL junior players playing in the SAJCC trials are to wear school uniform, the Buffalo City Chess uniform
(only those that played in the 2015/16 SAJCC held in Cape Town) or the Eastern Cape Chess uniform
(only those that received their provincial colours in 2015). Players who arrive in civvies will not be
permitted to play unless they are home-schooled players and do not have a uniform.
Players not intending to go to the SAJCC tournament held over December must be entered into the B
division. The SAJCC tournament will be held in JHB this year within December and estimated costs will
be between R4000 and R5000 per player. Schools and clubs are to please ensure that only their
strongest players are entered into the A division.
All schools / clubs and players will only receive 1 registration form for all 5 tournaments. As the venue
will remain the same, and tournament dates are below, only 1 form will be necessary. Please keep the
form below as your master copy. Private entrants must diarise the dates (or paste the below calendar on
your fridge) as reminders will not be sent out.
Please note that entries received later than the cut off date (16h00 Wednesday prior to the
tournament) will not be permitted to play in the tournament.

BUFFALO CITY CHESS CLUB (ALL AGES):
For all players who do not belong to a club and are wishing to participate in club chess, please contact Mr

The club will participate in all club league games.
Club chess is available to all players of all ages at the following annual fee:
Adults – 20 years and older:

It has been decided that adult chess will be run separately to the junior trials from 2016. If you are
20years or older, please contact Mr Zane Pape with your contact details and he will provide you with all
the information you may need in order to play club, league and tournaments. His contact details are as
