Dear Third Grade Investigator Students and Families,
Welcome to the Third Grade Investigator classroom family! My name is
Ms. Friday and I have an exciting year planned. I look forward to a
successful year of student growth and achievement.
This year, Mr. Saturday and I will co-teach throughout the week in order to
address the needs of all of the students in the class. Mr. Saturday works
with several classrooms, so he will only be in the classroom periodically.
Mr. Saturday and I are always open to suggestions, concerns, questions,
and comments. Please call at any time!!!!
At our school, we have high expectations for all of our students. It is
imperative that all students come to school on time each day ready to learn.
This means that each student should have all of her or his nightly
homework completed, have the proper uniform on and bring a positive
attitude! In our community, we treat each other with respect and always do
our best.
In order to track student choices and to keep families in tune with student
choices, our school uses the BUC$ system. Each day, your student can earn
up to $8. Each Tuesday, your student will receive a check in the Tuesday
Folder which will show how many BUC$ were earned each day. The
students can spend the checks each Wednesday at the school store if their
guardian signs it. Remember, positive choices mean that your student is
learning!
Students will have homework logs every week charting the homework,
Reading Logs, Words of the Week (WOWs), announcements, and student
BUC$ earned. Each night, please make sure your child completes all
homework and initial that he or she has completed it and you have

discussed how many BUC$ she or he earned!
Students will also have a Tuesday Folder that will go home each Tuesday
with data about their progress toward their goals and their assessment
data. It will also provide information from our school. Please review the
information each Tuesday and return it on Wednesday. If students lose
their folder, they will need to replace it by using their BUC$ to buy a new
one at the school store.
We will eat breakfast in the classroom this year. Please make sure your
student is at school on time so we can start the day on the right foot!
Here is a list of supplies that your student should have for the classroom
this year. Throughout the school year, there will be various projects where
I will request specific supplies to be donated. If you are unable to get
supplies, please let me know immediately.
___1-inch 3 ring binder
___5 folders with pockets
___1 Mead Composition Book
___4 notebooks
___pencil/crayon box for supplies
___pencils
___pencil sharpener
___erasers

Wednesday, September 8th at 6:00p.m.!
Warmest Regards,
