Training:
To be employable adults need to obtain
skills. We run training courses
ourselves and send individuals
to college in Kampala.
Primary education is provided at one of the camps
where the refugees live. We fund midday meals and
basic school equipment.
Secondary education has to be paid for in Uganda. Serve
Africa supports children each year to attend the local school.
faced devastation and terror from the Lord’s
Resistance Army (LRA). Its leader, Joseph
Kony, is notorious and is being sought for
war crimes. Over two million people were
displaced and tens of thousands maimed
and killed. Many fled south, most having lost
relatives and loved ones.
Serve Africa has been supporting around
400 adults and 600 children, who settled
just outside Kampala. The charity, from initially
providing basic household utensils
and gifts of food, has been pursuing
activities to improve the refugees
well-being and self-respect, and
help them positively face the future.
