December Birthdays - Kids Town Learning Center

December 2016 Newsletter
Tis’ the season for giving, we would like to thank all the KTLC families for their
gracious food donations. I know with all your help, we were able to help provide meals for
local families in need.
Monday, December5th thru Friday, December 16 Kids Town will be collecting items
for St. Mary’s House for Disabled Children. Please place your donations in the area marked
in the front lobby. Room 5 is holding a gently used book drive that coincides with the toy
drive.
Our book fair will be running from Monday, December19th at 3 pm thru Friday,
December 23th, 5:30p.m
Mark your calendars for Monday, December 19, at 10 AM Room 4 will have their
winter program. Tuesday room 5/7 will perform at 10 and Room 6 performs their program
on Wednesday, December 21, at 10 am. Following some the performance parents are
invited to join in with their child’s class for a winter party. (Please see your child’s teacher
for details.)
Just a reminder parents that this is the cold and flu season. Please wash your and
your child’s hands upon entering the classrooms or help yourself to the sanitizing pumps
located all around Kids Town.
If your child has a temperature of 101 degrees or higher, your child throws up or
has diarrhea your child will need to stay home from school. You’re child may return after 24
hours of being symptom free. We want to keep everyone healthy and happy.
During morning drop off and afternoon pick up please drive slowly. If you plan to be
quick you may park momentarily in the right lane in front of the building but not past the
curve of the side walk. This blocks the parent parking area so no one can back out. If you
would like to not rush at drop off and pick up, park in the parent designated area. It is also
not a good idea to leave your car running or unlocked for safety reasons.
Kids Town will be CLOSED the week of:
December 26 thru December 30. School reopens January 2, 2017
We hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday.

possible. Also this month we will be having a Christmas party and I will post the list on the

This month we are adding three new letters they are K, Q and M. This month will also be

Hello! Welcome to the new students and parents in room 7! In December, our class will
continue learning letters, numbers, and working on fine motor skills. The children will be
introduced to letters A, V, and C. The December theme is Holidays; the children will learn
about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. Rooms 5 and 7 will be collecting gently used
books to donate to children in need! We will be collecting books until December 16th. The
class is also continuing the reading log to instill the love of reading in young children. Don’t
forget to have your children color in their happy faces when they sit and read a book! If all
the children read at least 20 books, our class will have a popcorn party!
If you have any questions, you can email me at [email protected].
Thanks,
Mrs. Ariel

Please help me in welcoming the new assistant teacher in our class, Ms. CiCi!
It is that time of year where the winter holidays are upon us. Our theme for December is
“Music”. We will introduce to the children, string instruments, wind instruments, brass and
percussion. Our readings for this month will be Holiday stories. We will continue working
on our alphabet letters of the week, as well as our counting. The children are doing a
FANTASTIC job with color and shape recognition. During this month, the children will be
using their fine motor skills by making several detailed decorations that will be displayed in
our classroom.
The children are becoming very familiar with the routine we have of sitting on the potty
after every pull-up change, some have even begun “going” in the potty. We also have some
children who will verbalize they have “pooped” after it has already happened but this is still
great because they are aware that they do not want it on them. Although we have the
holiday break approaching, please continue the process.
Please keep an eye on our Face book page, you’ll find pictures that are periodically captured
of the children doing different activities throughout some days.
