Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count: Thurs., Jan. 5. Calling all birders! Every Christmas season Callaway Gardens participates in
The National Audubon Society’s Christmas Bird Count Program. Volunteer birders are needed to assist with the count on Thursday,
January 5, 2017. Some participants simply watch feeders from the comfort of their home, while others walk and drive through different
portions of the count area to census the bird populations. Participants should have a good knowledge of birds, dress for the weather, in
layers and wear hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes and bring a lunch and/or a snack. To volunteer for this exciting event, email

Needle Arts Exhibit, Boutique, and Bookstore: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Jan. 15-25, Mountain Creek Conference & Training Center, The
public are invited to shop the Callaway Gardens' School of Needle Arts' well-stocked boutique, a bookstore offering new and rare out-of-print
titles, and a juried needle arts exhibit sponsored by the Dogwood Chapter of The Embroiders' Guild of America Inc. Free admission.
Needle Arts Merchandise Nights: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Jan. 17 and Jan. 22, Mountain Creek Conference & Training Center, Shop for the latest
in needlework tools, beads, wearable art and more during the 46th Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts' Merchandise Nights. Free

Fitness Series-Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5k: Jan. 28, 7:45 a.m., The 2017 Callaway Gardens Fitness Series kicks off with a trio of
road races that are part of the Run & See Georgia Series. The routes through Callaway Gardens’ scenic woodland surroundings are a
delight, and the race is a favorite among competitive runners thanks to its status as a Boston Marathon qualifier. For more information on
