Summer Term 2 Week 3 Newsletter
Focused, hardworking, happy children!!
Dear Parents/ Carers,
I have no idea where this week has gone it seems to have flown by…. I
am sure they are speeding up as we get closer to the summer holidays and with so much going
on I can’t see the pace letting up any time soon!
We have had the NSPCC in with year 5 and 6 this week as a follow up to the assembly last week.
I am always pleased to hear how maturely and sensibly the children deal with some of the
issues which are brought up in class and am immensely proud of their attitude and inclusive
nature which always comes to the fore when discussing issues which can sometimes be
difficult.
As a school we would like to do something to support those families which were affected by the
tower block fire in London. We are going to take part in the “go green for Grenfell” campaign
which raises money for these families. I hope you will support us in this. There is more
information in the newsletter.
Just to finish I want to wish everyone good luck at the fun run on Saturday and hope to see
some of you there representing Gledhow.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisa Seton
Assemblies
We have some class assemblies coming up in the next few weeks which I am determined to
attend – these are 4DB on June 28th at 10.45, 2VW on July 5th at 10.00 and 2PG on July 6th at
9.45. I am looking forward to these and judging by the feedback from parents they are well
worth attending!
Performances
There has been a lot of changes around the year 6 performance times as we have
had to fit around transition and the busy schedule at the end of the summer term.
Just to confirm: Tuesday July 18th at 9.30 and Wednesday 19th at 6.30.
Times Table Rock Stars Rock Wrangle and Red Carpet event
We had a great time with the Times table rock star wrangle this
morning – not least for the choice of music as there is not often a good
excuse to be able to play ACDC in a primary school! (Mr Bickley was
very enthusiastic) All the children did extremely well and quite a few
achieved 100%. However, in the end our worthy winner who completed
the task the quickest and still got them all right was Zach Nnomo from
4SB. Brilliant work Zach well done!

Pamper & Style ME
www.eventbrite.co.uk
The new school hall will be transformed into the venue for the Gledhow 'Pamper & Style
Me' event . This will be an evening of relaxation, rejuvenation, pampering and fun. Style advice,
make up tips & tricks, nutrition & fitness, fashion show, massage, nails and gorgeous
snacks. From 7pm-9.30pm - tickets are £5.90 and include a glass of prosecco or a soft drink. All
proceeds go to the Gledhow PSA.
We are also currently looking for those interested in having a stall at this event. Please note
that enquiries will only be considered by those offering services/products associated with
'pampering' e.g. beauty, hair, clothes, cosmetics etc. If you would like to be part of this event
then please email Lisa([email protected]) by Friday 7th July latest.
Stalls will cost £20 and all proceeds go to Gledhow Primary PSA.
Art competitions
We have been running an art competition run by the house captains to design an
alternative front cover for one of three well known books. The winners were
announced in the assembly today. They were KS1 – Sabrina Tran for a brilliant
Hungry Caterpillar design, Leah Sinclair for her excellent Fantastic Mr Fox cover and
Marilia Lampadarios for her James and the Giant Peach work. The pictures will be framed
and put in the library area. The standard was really high and we would like to say thank you for
everyone who took part it was a really hard decision.
Green for Grenfell
As I said earlier in the newsletter we would like to take part in the Go green for
Grenfell campaign. We would like the children to dress in something green on
Friday July 7th and pay a contribution of £1 which will go towards the fund
which is helping the victims of the tower block fire and particularly the children
who were caught up in the tragedy. Although we are later than the official
launch we would still like to show our support. If you would like further
information please follow this link: https://www.ldbs.co.uk/go-green-grenfell
