►Cannot
require students to cross
three or more lanes of traffic.
►Except:
traffic signal or adult
crossing guard within 300’.

Check your mirrors!
Activate the alternating flashing amber
lights before the school bus stop:
► Speed limit 35 mph or less
100 to 300 feet
► Speed limit more than 35 mph
300 to 500 feet

approach and stop

► Set parking brake – Transmission in N

► Activate red alternating flashing lights
(with the switch -- not the door)

students are crossing, signal
when it is safe to cross
►In the PM, students wait 10 feet
in front of the bus.
►Keep track of where the students
are .… watch them until they get
on the bus or leave the stop

students move in and out of a

Both violations are gross
misdemeanors with $500 fines
and six months in jail.
