2017 Baseball School and Games Camp DIRECTED BY THE STANFORD BASEBALL COACHING STAFF
***AGES 7-12 YEARS - BEGINNER TO EXPERIENCED PLAYERS***
STANFORD BASEBALL SCHOOL
(THE 9 AM – 12:15 PM SEGMENT OF EACH DAY)
Players will be grouped by age, ability and prior experience. During the morning instructional session
throughout each week, participants will be coached in several baseball skills, fundamentals, and team
concepts. Members of the camp will receive instruction in a variety of areas including hitting, infield play,
outfield play, pitching, catching, rundowns, double plays, sliding, position priorities, proper footwork when re-directing the baseball, and base
running. All batting instruction and batting drills take place in Stanford’s million-dollar baseball cage facility. The astro-turfed cages are
covered so campers are out of the direct sun light. Participants will hit every day in the cage area, in both the morning school segment and the
afternoon games segment of camp.
STANFORD BASEBALL GAMES CAMP
(THE 12:45 PM- 4 PM SEGMENT OF EACH DAY)
In the Games Camp (the afternoon segment of each day) players are grouped by age and ability and teams are formed. Teams play against one
another in a coach pitched game where the goal is to see that ball “put into play.” Emphasis is placed on catching and exchanging the baseball
cleanly, and knowing what to do with the baseball, given the score, the outs, and where the baserunners are located. Many of the baseball skills
learned in the Baseball School will be put into game situations. Each team, consisting of 9 players, will play together and be coached by the
same coach all week. 50% of each afternoon session is devoted to games and the other 50% to hitting in batting cages and developing further
defensive baseball skills. Games will be played on Sunken Diamond, our adjoining astro-turf and grass fields.
* Check in and all instruction will be held at the Stanford Varsity Baseball Field (Sunken Diamond).
* All campers will receive 2 baseball camps. One will be a Stanford Baseball cap, the other will be a baseball cap representing the team he
plays on in the afternoon Games Camp.
* Coach to camper ratio is 1 coach for every 9 campers.
* Campers can attend multiple sessions.
* Campers must either bring lunch from home, or purchase lunch at Sunken Diamond
* We do offer an “extended care” option from 7:30 am – 9 am, and/ or 4 pm- 6 pm (we charge $15 per hour for extended care). You sign up
for extended care the first day of camp.
EQUIPMENT: Campers must provide their own glove, shoes and suitable baseball attire (either baseball pants or sweats/long pants).
