Ice Breaker: Share with the group something that you are looking forward to when Jesus
returns. Why are you looking forward to it?
Scripture: Read 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Message- #Hashtag is used in social media to make connections, there are certain words in the
Bible that work in a similar way. The word “therefore” in Scripture is what connects specific
fact’s/truths to then corresponding actions. There are two facts that we learned and two actions
we are to take.
Fact #1: Your Body Will Be Glorious (50-53) - Many people in this world struggle with wanting
their looks to be different or are so self-conscience about their body that it effects what they do.
In fact, there are over 16 million plastic surgeries a year in the U.S. Why is it easy to get caught
up in our earthly appearance? What does it mean to put on the imperishable? What are the
truths in this text about our new bodies? (Vs.42-44)
Fact #2: Death Will Be Defeated (54-57) – The result of sin is death. All of us are headed to a
physical death. How can death be swallowed up? What does this mean for all of the death,
murder, injustice, and racism our country faces? Why is it so important to address the heart in
addition to other needed actions in this country? What does it look like for our church to live the
gospel out together?
Exhortation #1: Remain Anchored in the Lord (58a) - For those in Christ, we have a great
hope that makes us steadfast and immovable. How does knowing the previous facts make this
true? Have you ever drifted in life because you were not anchored in these truths? What are 3
necessary anchors God has given us? Why is are the 3 Anchors (the Word, Prayer, and
Community) vital to being immovable?
Exhortation #2: Your Labor is not in Vain (58b) - When we are feeling squeezed or struggling
in life we can ask “what is the point of this”? Jesus must be our anchor to stand upon to remain
firm. When have you wondered if it is worth it? What is the inheritance we have from the Lord?
How do you depend on the Lord when it is tough?
Mutual Ministry: What will you do when you’re tempted to make an idol of your body? How can
you focus this week on these 2 facts? What can you do to make a difference in this very
challenging time in our country? What of the 3 anchors discussed do you really need to focus on
growing in? How can you grow in understanding and gratefulness for your inheritance?
