States of Alderney Public Consultation on possible changes to Liquor Licensing Laws The States of Alderney has been asked by a large retailer whether it would consider a change to existing licensing laws that currently restrict the sale of alcohol to public houses and off-licences. The suggested change would enable retailers to apply for a licence to the Court of Alderney for the sale of alcohol. The retailer asking for the change wishes to invest in a new supermarket in the harbour area, the sale of alcohol is part of the business model used by the retailer elsewhere. The States has therefore resolved to allow for a period of public consultation before any decision is made. Feedback may be given by returning the form below to the States Office in the Island Hall, by email to [email protected] or by direct contact with States Members. The period of consultation will commence on 13 May 2015 and end on 13 June 2015. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
