Field Team Coordinators

Field Team Coordinator
How would you like to lead a team in the Scottish uplands this summer?
We are looking for
experienced field ecologists to lead survey teams in upland Scotland. Survey teams will be located
in Angus, Inner Hebrides, Moray and Perthshire (the application form will allow applicants to specify
their preferred location).
These positions are available from early-April until the end of August,
however this may be extended for the right candidate. Two-day residential interviews will be held
late February in Moray, Scotland. If you cannot attend an interview at that time, please make it
clear on your application form.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and a proven record of leading a
project or managing a team.
Project management skills can be from a field other than ecology.
The candidate must also have experience of undertaking at least one of the following: ornithological
surveys (Brown and Shepherd an advantage), habitat impact assessments or butterfly surveys,
preferable in an upland environment. A decent level of physical fitness, ability to read a map and
navigate in upland terrain and a willingness to lead a team to complete surveys in remote locations
are essential. A full, clean driving license (preferably with off-road driving experience) and first aid
qualification are desirable.
Ideally the candidate would have experience of using Microsoft Word & Excel and GIS packages.
They would also have a proven record of delivering concise reports to tight deadlines. It would also
be advantageous to have CIEEM Membership and a mountain leader qualification.
We expect applicants to share our passion for ecology, be self-motivated and reliable. They must
also have a flexible approach to field work in a challenging but rewarding upland environment.
Candidates need to be confident leading a team in remote setting and also happy to live with the
team members. Free accommodation will be provided during the field season.
Salary is dependent on experience but will be in the region of £18000 - £26000 per annum, pro
